How to Take, Save, and Share Photos on Webcam Toy
Webcam Toy is a browser-based camera app that applies over 80 effects and filters to your webcam feed. You can take a single photo or a four-shot sequence, save the result to your computer, or post it to Twitter, Google Photos, or Tumblr. The whole process runs in your browser, and photos are not stored online unless you choose to share them. It works in Chrome or Edge — the site states other browsers are not supported.
Before you start
- A working webcam connected to your computer.
- JavaScript enabled in your browser.
- Camera permission granted for webcamtoy.com.
- Chrome or Edge. If you see "Sorry, Webcam Toy does not work in this web browser," switch browsers.
Taking a photo
- Open webcamtoy.com and press the button to access your camera.
- When the browser asks for permission, choose Allow. If you previously blocked it, re-enable camera access in your browser's site settings and reload the page.
- Pick an effect from the gallery — options include Normal, Alien, Black & White, Fisheye, Kaleidoscope, Night Vision, Pop Art, Sketch, Thermal, and many more.
- Adjust the capture options as needed:

- Press Take a photo for a single shot, or Take 4 photos for a four-frame sequence.
If the camera still won't start, close other programs or tabs that may be holding the camera — the site specifically names Skype and chat apps as common conflicts — then try again.
Saving to your computer
After the shot appears, choose Save this photo to your computer. The file downloads through your browser; nothing is uploaded anywhere. You can also discard the shot and retake it if you don't like the result.
Sharing to Twitter, Google Photos, or Tumblr
Each platform has its own button under the photo:
- Post to Twitter — posts the photo and tweet to your linked Twitter account.
- Save to Google Photos — saves the image to your Google Photos library.
- Post to Tumblr — publishes the photo to your Tumblr.
You'll be asked to sign in to the relevant account first if you aren't already. Once shared, you can view the photo on that platform. If a service is having problems, the site shows a "please try again later" message rather than failing silently.
Privacy note
Webcam Toy states that it does not store any of your personal information, and photos stay off the internet unless you actively share them. That makes the save-to-computer path the private default: capture, download, done.
