EnglishWhat is Parrot Island Inc. (parrotislandinc.com)?
Updated
Parrot Island Inc. (parrotislandinc.com) is an online store for parrot and pet-bird supplies, built on the osCommerce e-commerce platform. It sells bird food mixes, treats, toys, and care products, and also hosts a library of bird-care articles. The site has been running since at least 2003, based on the copyright and visitor-counter text on its home page. If you keep a parrot, canary, finch, or other pet bird and want to buy food or supplies online, this is the kind of store you'd land on.
What the site sells
The catalog is organized around bird food and accessories, with a mix of house-brand and third-party products.
Parrot Island's own mixes appear throughout the bestseller list and featured products, including:
- Parrot Island Standard Parrot Mix (2 lb and 4 lb, no pellets)
- Parrot Island Custom Parrot Mix (2 lb and 4 lb, no pellets)
- Parrot Island Medium Formulated Diet Mix (4 lb)
- Parrot Island Cockatiel/Small Parrot Mix (with and without pellets)
- Parrot Island Keet/Parrotlet/Finch/Canary Mix (no pellets)
- Parrot Island's Own Veggies and Herbs
Other food and treat items include organic seeds and nuts — organic jumbo striped sunflower seeds, organic milk thistle seeds, organic almonds in the shell, and naturally grown golden millet spray.
Toys and accessories are dominated by the Scooter World line, such as the Linkster, Mini Columbo, Dino-saucer, Ball and Chain, Cascade, and Double Vine Swing.

The manufacturer list on the home page shows the store stocks a range of well-known bird-product brands alongside its own label:

- Search, including an advanced search
- Account and cart — you can log in or create an account, and the header shows Cart Contents and Checkout. The site notes that creating an account also lets you receive email coupons and discounts.
- Bestsellers and featured products highlighted on the home page
Bird-care articles
Beyond shopping, the site hosts an article library grouped by topic, which is useful if you're researching care rather than buying:

Who runs it and how long it's been around
The page footer shows "Copyright © 2003 osCommerce" and a visitor counter reading "241232671 requests since Tuesday 15 July, 2003," indicating the store has operated since 2003. It is powered by osCommerce, an open-source e-commerce system, which explains the classic catalog/cart/checkout layout.
Practical notes before you buy
- Prices are listed in USD on the page (for example, Standard Parrot Mix 2 lb at $29.99, Scooter World Linkster at $18.99), but confirm current pricing and shipping at checkout, since listings can change.
- Shipping and returns have their own linked pages in the site menu — check those for terms, as the home page doesn't state them.
- Account creation is optional for browsing, but the site ties coupons and discounts to having an account.
- The catalog mixes pelleted and seed-based mixes, and several products are explicitly labeled "no pellets," so read each product name carefully if your bird is on a specific diet.
