How Missouri Lawyers Report and Track MCLE Compliance on MOBAR
Updated
Missouri lawyers handle MCLE compliance through the member portal at mobar.org, using the My MCLE section to report credits and check status, and the MCLE Compliance pages for rules, FAQs, and program information. You need a signed-in member account to report credits or view your own record; the public-facing pages only explain the rules and list resources. The steps below follow the navigation and resources published on mobar.org.
What the MCLE section of mobar.org contains
The site separates compliance tasks from course-taking, so it helps to know which page does what before you start.
| Area | What it's for |
|---|---|
| My MCLE | Your personal reporting and tracking entry point (requires sign-in) |
| MCLE Compliance | Rules, reporting requirements, and the compliance home page |
| MCLE Home | Overview of the compliance program |
| Report My MCLE | The reporting function itself |
| Program Sponsors | Providers whose programs count toward credit |
| Frequently Asked Questions | Answers to common reporting and eligibility questions |
| MoBarCLE | The Bar's own CLE courses, calendar, and materials |
| Additional resources | Rule-specific guidance, including Rule 6.06 (return to active status), Rule 8.10 (admission without examination), Rule 8.105 (limited admission for in-house counsel), and Rule 17 (alternative dispute resolution) |
How to report and track your MCLE credits
- Sign in to your member account from the mobar.org home page. The portal links (My Profile, My MCLE, My Fees) appear once you're authenticated.
- Open My MCLE. This is where your individual record and reporting actions live.
- Report your credits using the Report My MCLE function. Enter the program details as prompted; the expected result is that the credits are applied to your record for the current compliance period.
- Verify your status by returning to My MCLE and reviewing the reported entries. This is also how you confirm nothing is missing before a deadline.
- Check the FAQ if a program or credit type isn't behaving as expected — it covers the common reporting questions rather than requiring you to contact staff first.
If you need to confirm whether a specific course qualifies, the Program Sponsors list and the MoBarCLE calendar are the two places to check: sponsor-approved programs and Bar-run courses are the ones designed to count.
Where to take qualifying courses
MoBarCLE is the Bar's own education arm and publishes its calendar and formats directly on the site:
- MoBarCLE Calendar — scheduled programs
- Annual Law Update, Ethics, and Elimination of Bias — recurring required-topic programming
- Onsite Programs & Conferences, Webcasts | Webinars — delivery formats
- Deskbooks | Guidebooks — written materials
The site also lists the Annual Meeting and the Solo & Small Firm Conference among its events, and notes a virtual Annual Meeting running October 5–9 in convenient mid-day time blocks, with registration handled through the site.
Common sticking points
- You can't report without signing in. The reporting tools sit behind the member portal, so a public visit to mobar.org won't let you file credits.
- Compliance rules and reporting are on different pages. If you're looking for a requirement rather than filing a credit, start at MCLE Compliance or the FAQ, not My MCLE.
- Some rules have their own resource pages. Return to active status, admission without examination, limited in-house admission, and ADR each have dedicated guidance under Additional resources — check there before assuming the general FAQ covers your situation.
- Fees are separate. My Fees is its own portal section; MCLE reporting and fee status are tracked in different places.
Related member tools worth knowing
Beyond MCLE, the portal groups the tools Missouri lawyers use most: Fastcase sign-in, no-cost trust accounting and billing software (offered in partnership with Smokeball), the Lawyer Directory and LawyerSearch, MAI & MACH Search, the Neutrals List sign-up, and the Remote Public Access | Redaction Center. The Practice Management section is organized by career stage — open, build, manage, protect, and wind down a practice — with checklists, charts, and white papers. For the public, the site provides an Official Directory of Lawyers, Find a Lawyer, legal guides and forms, and a complaint process that includes the Client Security Fund and fee dispute resolution.
