How much are 18PDX tickets and how do I buy them?

Updated

18PDX tickets are sold in two tiers: before 15 May, a single day costs $25 and the full four days cost $75; after 15 May, prices rise to $35 per day and $100 for the full four days. Payment is made by PayPal to Dave Blanchard. If you already know you're going, buying before 15 May saves you $10 on a single day and $25 on the full convention.

Ticket prices at a glance

Purchase timing Single day Full 4 days
In advance, before 15 May $25 $75
After 15 May $35 $100

The convention runs 24–27 June 2027, so the "full 4 days" option covers Thursday through Sunday.

How to buy

  1. Decide whether you want a single day or all four days.
  2. Send the corresponding amount via PayPal to Dave Blanchard.
  3. Buy before 15 May if possible to lock in the lower rate.

No other payment methods are listed on the site, so PayPal is the route to plan around.

What your ticket gets you

  • Access to open 18xx gaming across the convention dates. A wide supply of 18xx games is available, brought by attendees and local players' collections.
  • Prototype playtesting. Several 18xx designers commonly bring their prototypes to play and discuss.
  • A planning channel. The 18PDX Discord is the place to organise games and line up opponents before you arrive.

If there's a specific title you particularly want to play, bring it — the shared library is broad but not guaranteed to include everything.

Dates and venue

  • Dates: 24–27 June 2027
  • Daily hours (Pacific Daylight Time): Thursday–Saturday 08:00–24:00; Sunday 08:00–18:00
  • Hotel: Hilton Garden Inn Portland Airport, with a discounted room package and a free shuttle from the airport

Practical notes before you pay

  • The 15 May cutoff is the whole decision. Waiting past it costs an extra $10 per day or $25 for the full run, with no added benefit described.
  • Single-day vs. full pass: four single days after 15 May would total $140, so the $100 full pass is the better value for anyone attending three or more days even at the higher tier.
  • Book the hotel alongside your ticket if you want the discounted room package — the site lists it as a separate item from tickets.
