How to Join or Log In to QRZ Forums

Updated

QRZ Forums uses your QRZ account for access. If you already have a QRZ.com account, you can log in with it; if you don't, you need to create one on QRZ.com first. Some sections, such as the Online Swapmeet, are only visible after you log in, so signing in is not just for posting—it also unlocks parts of the forum you cannot see as a guest.

Before you start

  • A QRZ account (the same account used on QRZ.com). The forums do not appear to run a separate registration system.
  • A valid email address for account creation or recovery.
  • A browser with cookies enabled, since login state is stored in your session.

Logging in

  1. Go to forums.qrz.com.
  2. Use the login option on the page. Because the forums are tied to QRZ, you are normally asked for your QRZ username and password rather than a forum-only credential.
  3. After submitting, you should be returned to the forum index with your callsign or username shown as logged in.

Expected result: you can open member-only areas and start or reply to threads. If you stay logged out, you can still read most public boards, but the Online Swapmeet and similar sections will not be available.

Creating an account

If you do not have a QRZ account:

  1. Register on QRZ.com first, following that site's signup process.
  2. Return to forums.qrz.com and log in with the new credentials.

The exact fields and verification steps depend on QRZ.com's current registration flow, so follow what the site presents rather than assuming a fixed form.

What you can do once logged in

Area Visible when logged out? Notes
General discussion boards (Amateur Radio News, Contests/DXpeditions, etc.) Usually readable Posting requires login
Online Swapmeet No The page states you must be logged in to access the swapmeet forum
Special Events, Hamfest reports, Silent Keys Usually readable Posting requires login

New user tip

Read the Code of Conduct thread first. It is pinned in the QRZ Forums section and was last updated July 19, 2023. It covers the rules for posting, so checking it before your first post avoids common moderation issues.

Common snags

  • Login loop or "not logged in" after submitting: usually a cookie or browser-privacy setting. Allow cookies for qrz.com and forums.qrz.com.
  • Cannot see the Swapmeet: confirm you are actually logged in; that board is hidden from guests by design.
  • Password problems: handle these through QRZ.com account recovery, not the forum itself, since the account lives on QRZ.

For the precise current steps, use the login and registration links on the live site, as the interface can change.
