What Social and Alumni Activities Does Warwick Bears Ultimate Frisbee Offer?

Updated

Warwick Bears Ultimate Frisbee runs regular weekly socials organised by a dedicated Social Secretary, and it maintains an alumni side of the club with events including a 50th Anniversary celebration. The club describes itself as one of the friendliest on campus and says its socials cater to everyone, whether or not you drink. If you are looking for a club where the off-pitch side matters as much as the frisbee, this is the relevant part of what Warwick Bears offers.

Weekly Socials

The club states that it holds regular weekly socials run by its Social Secretary. Two details from the club's own description are worth noting:

  • The socials are described as catering to absolutely everyone, explicitly including people who are not heavy drinkers.
  • The club presents itself as one of the friendliest clubs on campus and, above all, a development club that welcomes people of all abilities.

That framing matters if your main motivation for joining a university sport is the social side rather than competition. The socials are a standing part of the club's weekly rhythm, not one-off events.

Alumni Activities

Warwick Bears is the oldest Ultimate team in Europe, founded in 1976, so it has a long alumni base to draw on. The website includes:

  • A dedicated Alumni Events section.
  • A Warwick Bears 50th Anniversary entry under alumni events.

Alumni can use those pages to find out what is being organised. If you are a former player, the Alumni Events section is the place to check rather than the general news pages.

How This Fits the Rest of the Club

The social and alumni side sits alongside a competitive programme — the club says it consistently reaches university nationals and that several of its players have gone on to top UK teams, including the GB squad. So the club is not choosing between being social and being competitive; the socials and alumni network run in parallel with training and tournaments.

If you want to ask about a specific social or alumni event, the club's stated best contact routes are Instagram or email at [email protected].
