What is PlayTracker and what does it do?

Updated

PlayTracker is a cross-platform gaming companion that connects to popular gaming platforms and unites your gamer data in one place. It combines your game library, achievements, and stats into a single profile, and adds social features, cross-platform challenges, and activity graphs on top. You can create an account for free and use it through the browser-based website on playtracker.net; a Windows desktop app powered by Overwolf adds extra features, and Android and iOS mobile apps are listed as coming soon.

The three pillars

PlayTracker is built around three areas, each aimed at a different part of the cross-platform problem.

Social

A unified cross-platform social experience for gamers. You link your platforms, then keep up with friends' activity no matter where they play, compare achievements even across platforms, and see it all in a cross-platform social feed. Playing anywhere earns XP that levels up your profile and unlocks customization options.

Quest

Cross-platform game challenges with rewards. You unlock achievements on any platform to complete challenges, take part in themed monthly quests, compete on leaderboards, and create challenges for friends. Rewards include Reputation, new cosmetics for your profile, and — per the site — a free game every season, with a free mystery game after completing 7 challenges.

Insight

Stats, graphs, and estimates for games across platforms. Once your platforms are linked, you get combined stats and graphs of your activity over time, plus a library you can browse, organize, and label, including backlog management.

What you can actually do with it

Area What it gives you
Unified profile One profile combining your linked platforms' libraries, achievements, and stats
Library tools Browse, organize, and label your full game library; manage your backlog
Stats Combined stats and graphs of your activity over time
Social feed Friends' activity across platforms in one feed
Comparisons Achievement comparison across platforms
Challenges Seasonal themed achievement hunts, monthly quests, friend challenges, leaderboards
Progression XP, levels, Reputation, and profile cosmetics

How it works in practice

The core action is linking your gaming platforms to a PlayTracker account. From there, the platform pulls your library, achievements, and stats together, and everything else — the profile, the graphs, the social feed, the challenges — builds on that combined data. The site offers example profiles, an example library, and a demo social feed if you want to see the result before signing up.

Where you can use it

  • Website — the original playtracker.net experience, available on any device with a browser. Ad-supported.
  • Windows desktop app — powered by Overwolf, with additional features beyond the website.
  • Mobile apps — Android and iOS apps are listed as coming soon.

Who it's for

PlayTracker fits you if you play across more than one platform and want your achievements, stats, and friends' activity in one place rather than scattered across separate platform dashboards. It's also a reasonable fit if you like achievement hunting and want cross-platform challenges with cosmetic and game rewards attached. If you only play on a single platform and don't care about cross-platform stats or social features, the value is smaller.

Account creation is free according to the site. PlayTracker's pricing page exists, and subscription/premium signals appear on the site, so if you need to know what a paid tier adds, check that page directly rather than assuming everything is free.
