How to Contact or Join the Silicon Valley Accordion Society
Updated
The Silicon Valley Accordion Society (SVAS) handles inquiries and membership through the "Contact Us/Membership" page on its website, svasociety.org. The same site is where you check upcoming meeting dates on the "Calendar of Events," see past activity in the "Photo/Video Gallery" and "Newsletters," and find accordion-related resources under "Related Links/Classified Ads." If you want to attend in person rather than inquire online, meetings are held at Christ Episcopal Church of Los Altos, 1040 Border Road, Los Altos, CA 94024 (phone 650-948-2151).
What the SVAS Website Offers
The site is organized as a simple navigation menu, so each task maps to one page:
| Page | What you use it for |
|---|---|
| Contact Us/Membership | Inquiries and joining the society |
| Calendar of Events | Upcoming meeting dates and featured performers |
| Photo/Video Gallery | Past performances and event photos |
| Newsletters | Society updates and activity recaps |
| Related Links/Classified Ads | Accordion-related resources and ads |
Attending a Meeting
Meetings combine featured bands with an open invitation for members to play. The October 4, 2026 meeting, for example, features The Sunday Seven Band, led by Bob Stanfield, plus the Balkanera Band.
The Sunday Seven Band has been together 16 years and plays across the South Bay Area, including downtown Los Altos on the first Friday of every month, plus special events, retirement homes, and senior centers. Its current lineup is four accordion players (Bob Stanfield, Vic Corsiglia, Tseli Wu, and Bill Likens) with Barbara Corsiglia on bass, Birgit Calhoun on recorder, and Scott Barta on guitar and bass. Their repertoire covers waltzes, polkas, sing-alongs, oldies, and German, Norwegian, Italian, country western, and holiday tunes.
Balkanera Band features Nena Lovre (accordion and vocals), Nikola Nedovic (guitar), Mirko Vojnovic (guitar), and Branko Lovre (cajon). Active since 2022, they play a mix of Balkan, international, and Gypsy jazz music; the musicians have also performed with the Iskra Etno group since 2017 at Bay Area festivals and cultural celebrations.
If You Want to Play
Bring your accordion and sign up to perform. You can either let one of the officers know, or arrive early and add your name to the white board on the stage.
Membership and Volunteering
Membership is handled through the Contact Us/Membership page. The society has also announced that Bill Tapogna is assuming the role of president while other officers share some of his responsibilities, and it is asking members for help during that transition — let one of the officers know if you would like to assist.
