How to Browse and Sort Products on decentsamples.com
Updated
The decent|SAMPLES shop lists 240 products across 20 pages, with a sorting dropdown that lets you reorder the catalog by popularity, average rating, latest, or price. You can browse page by page, or sort first to surface the cheapest, newest, or best-rated items before paging through results.
Where the catalog lives
The shop page is the main entry point for browsing. It displays 12 products per page and shows a result count ("Showing 1–12 of 240 results") plus numbered pagination links (1, 2, 3, 4 … 18, 19, 20) at both the top and bottom of the list.
Each product card in the grid shows:
- Product name and creator, with the plugin format in brackets (for example,
[Decent Sampler]or[Decent Sampler, Kontakt]) - Star rating and review count where reviews exist
- Price, including sale pricing shown as an original price struck through next to the current price
- An Add to cart button, or a Download button for free items
- A FREE TRIAL AVAILABLE label on some listings
Sorting options
The dropdown at the top of the shop offers these modes:
| Sort option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Default sorting | The shop's built-in order |
| Sort by popularity | Most popular items first |
| Sort by average rating | Highest-rated items first |
| Sort by latest | Newest items first |
| Sort by price: low to high | Cheapest first |
| Sort by price: high to low | Most expensive first |
Sorting applies to the whole catalog, not just the current page, so choosing "price: low to high" is the fastest way to find free and low-cost items without clicking through all 20 pages.
Reading prices and free items
Prices on the shop page appear in a few forms:
- Fixed price — for example, Indie Drums at $20.00, Zauber Celesta at $5.00, Exquis – Dualo Legacy at $149.00
- Sale price — shown as an original price crossed out next to the current price, for example overtone and GRAINWERK both list
$59.00reduced to$29.00 - FREE / $0 — the Decent Sampler Plugin and the Lewis E. Pyle Violin are listed this way, with a Download button instead of Add to cart
- FREE for PATRONS — Kenyan Kalimba is free to Patreon supporters, with a link to join
- FREE / $59.00 — overtone and GRAINWERK show this dual label alongside a "FREE TRIAL AVAILABLE" tag, meaning a trial exists separately from the paid purchase
If your goal is to spend nothing, sort by price low to high and look for the Download button rather than Add to cart.
Choosing between similar listings
Several products share the same format tag but differ in price and creator, so compare on the dimensions the shop actually shows:
- Format — the bracketed tag tells you which plugin or sampler the library runs in.
[Decent Sampler]items work with the free Decent Sampler plugin;[Kontakt]or[Kontakt (Full)]items require Kontakt. - Rating — items with more reviews and higher averages (for example, Indie Drums at 4.69, Paper Drums at 4.87) give you more signal than unrated listings.
- Price — sale items like Essential Six ($10.00 reduced to $8.00) may be cheaper than their category suggests.
Practical browsing tips
- Use the pagination at the bottom of the page after scrolling through a page of 12 — the controls repeat there so you don't have to scroll back up.
- If you already know you want a free instrument, sort by price low to high and scan for the Download button.
- Product pages themselves carry the rating, price, and add-to-cart or download action, so click through once a card looks relevant.
- The "FREE TRIAL AVAILABLE" tag appears on paid items, so treat it as a way to test before buying rather than as a free product.
