Where to Find Kodi Add-ons, Skins, and PVR Documentation on the Official Kodi Wiki
Updated
The Official Kodi Wiki (kodi.wiki) organizes add-ons, skins, PVR, and live TV documentation into dedicated sections on its main navigation page. You can reach them directly from the wiki home page: Add-ons, Skins, Live TV, PVR & Radio, and Add-on Development / Skin Development are all listed as top-level links. If you are looking for developer documentation rather than user guides, the same page also links to Development, Test Builds and Betas, and Translation System.
User-facing sections
These are the sections to check first if you want to install, configure, or troubleshoot an existing feature.
| Topic | Wiki section | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Add-ons | Add-ons | Installing and managing add-ons |
| Skins | Skins | Skin selection and configuration |
| Live TV & PVR | Live TV, PVR & Radio | PVR backends, live TV, and radio |
| Remote controls | Remote Controls | Setting up and using remotes |
| Sharing | Syncing and sharing | Sharing libraries and media across devices |
| Extra tools | Supplemental Tools | Companion utilities |
| Devices | Devices / Hardware | Platform-specific hardware notes |
The main page groups these under a general navigation menu, so you do not need to search to find them — they are one click from the home page.
Developer documentation
If you are building rather than using, the wiki separates development topics from the user sections:
- Add-on Development — for writing and packaging add-ons.
- Skin Development — for building and modifying skins.
- Development — general Kodi development topics.
- Translation System — for language and localization work.
- Test Builds and Betas — for pre-release builds.
These appear as their own group in the navigation menu, distinct from the user-facing add-on and skin pages.
How to navigate the wiki
- Open the wiki home page.
- Use the navigation menu on the left side of the page.
- Pick the section that matches your task — for example, Add-ons for installation help, or Add-on Development for coding.
- Use the search box if a topic is not listed directly.
The wiki is maintained by the open community together with Team Kodi members. Note that new account registrations are disabled; if you want an account to help edit, you must request one through the wiki's account request process.
Common sticking points
- User vs. developer pages are separate. Installation help lives under Add-ons; coding help lives under Add-on Development. Checking the wrong one is the most common source of confusion.
- PVR is not under Add-ons. Live TV and PVR have their own Live TV, PVR & Radio section.
- Skins have two entry points. End users go to Skins; skin authors go to Skin Development.
- The wiki is community-maintained. Some pages may be incomplete or flagged for cleanup, so cross-check with the FAQs or Troubleshooting sections when something looks outdated.
