Airsoft Rental vs Skirmish vs Junior Airsoft vs Joint Ops at Ambush Activities

Ambush Activities runs four bookable airsoft formats in Hampshire, and the right one depends on whether you own your own kit, who you're bringing, and whether you want to play alongside experienced skirmishers. Airsoft Rental suits players with no gear, Airsoft Skirmish is for players bringing their own kit, Junior Airsoft is aimed at younger players, and Joint Ops mixes rental and skirmish players in one session. All four run on the same 100+ acre woodland site between Portsmouth and Southampton, and all require long sleeves and trousers for under-18s.

The four formats side by side

Prices are per person and are the "from" rates listed on the site, so the exact cost depends on the session you pick.

Airsoft Rental

Choose this if you have no airsoft equipment of your own. The rental package includes:

• Game fee
• Equipment and protection
• 1,000 biodegradable BBs per half-day

Long sleeves and trousers are required for all under-18s. This is the format to pick for a first visit, a birthday party, a stag or office outing, or any group where most people don't own gear.

Airsoft Skirmish

Choose this if you already own your kit. Skirmishes run weekly on Sundays, with occasional mixed sessions and private events. Because you're bringing your own equipment, the per-person price starts slightly lower than rental.

The site advises checking dates and booking online, and reviewing rental eligibility before attending — so if you're a skirmish player thinking of bringing a friend without kit, confirm whether that session accepts rentals or whether you should book Joint Ops instead.

Junior Airsoft

Choose this for younger players and family groups. It's described as family-friendly airsoft designed for younger players, and the rental package includes:

• Game fee
• Equipment and protection
• A full magazine of biodegradable BBs per game

Note the BB allowance differs from Airsoft Rental: Junior Airsoft gives a full magazine per game rather than 1,000 BBs per half-day. Long sleeves and trousers are required for all under-18s.

Joint Ops – Skirmish & Rental

Choose this when your group is mixed — some players with their own kit, some without. Joint Ops combines experienced skirmishers and rental players in the same session, and includes game fees, protective equipment for rentals, and biodegradable BBs. It has the lowest starting price of the four and the widest session window at 3–7.5 hours.

How to decide

• No kit at all? Book Airsoft Rental.
• Own kit, want a regular game? Book Airsoft Skirmish on a Sunday.
• Bringing younger players? Book Junior Airsoft.
• Group with a mix of kit owners and beginners? Book Joint Ops so nobody is turned away.
• Booking for a party or corporate group? Rental or Joint Ops fit best, since both cover equipment for players without gear.

All formats are open to ages 11+ where an age is stated, and the site has been running since 1990. Check current dates and confirm the session accepts your player type before booking, since rental eligibility varies by session.
