What Items Are Not Allowed at the Grant Seafood Festival?

Updated

The Grant Seafood Festival prohibits pets (except service dogs wearing a vest or collar), coolers, tents or canopies of any kind, umbrellas, and overnight parking. The festival also does not accept food or drink vendors, because all food and drink is handled in house. These rules come directly from the festival's official site and apply to all attendees, so plan to leave these items at home or in your vehicle.

Prohibited Items and Activities at a Glance

Not Allowed Details
Dogs and other pets No dogs or other pets/animals. Service dogs are the only exception and must wear a vest or collar to distinguish them.
Coolers No coolers of any kind.
Tents and canopies No tents, canopies, or pop-up tents.
Umbrellas No umbrellas.
Overnight parking No overnight parking on site.
Food or drink vendors The festival does not accept food or drink vendors — all food and drink is done in house.

Why These Rules Exist

The festival is run 100% by volunteers, and many booths are staffed by families, often with several generations working side by side. All organizing, purchasing, preparation, cooking, and serving is done by community members. Because food and drink are handled entirely in house, outside vendors aren't part of the event — which also explains why coolers aren't permitted.

All proceeds go back into the community of Grant, supporting the Grant Seafood Festival scholarship fund, Grant Community Library, Grant Historical House, and The Grant Community Center.

What You Can Bring Instead

Since admission and parking are both free, you don't need to carry much. The festival offers:

  • A vast menu of delicious seafood
  • Over 200 crafters exhibiting
  • Live continuous entertainment all weekend

Leave the cooler, tent, and umbrella at home, and rely on the on-site food and drink offerings instead.

Service Dog Exception

If you rely on a service dog, it is welcome — but it must wear a vest or collar so it can be distinguished from a pet. This is the only animal exception stated by the festival.

Quick Planning Checklist

  • Leave pets at home (service dogs with vest or collar only)

  • Don't bring tents, canopies, pop-up tents, or umbrellas
