What is Stonewall Fleet?

Updated

Stonewall Fleet is a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and ally (GLBTA) fleet in Star Trek Online (STO), founded in 2008 and part of the wider Stonewall Gaming Network. It is aimed at LGBTQ+ players and allies who want an established, explicitly inclusive community in which to play STO. If you are looking for a fleet with a long history, a large membership and a stated GLBTA identity, this is what it offers.

What Stonewall Fleet is

The fleet describes itself as "Star Trek Online's premier gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and ally fleet." It was established in 2008, making it one of the oldest and largest fleets in STO, and it operates as part of the Stonewall Gaming Network, a multi-guild gaming community.

Its name comes from the historic Stonewall Riots: a series of public demonstrations against oppression that began in June 1969 and helped set off the Gay and Lesbian Rights Movement. The fleet's identity is therefore both a gaming community and a nod to that history.

Who it is for

  • LGBTQ+ players of Star Trek Online — gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender members are the fleet's stated core audience.
  • Allies who want to play alongside that community.
  • Players on PC as well as console, since the fleet also runs console groups (see below).
  • Casual players: the console fleets are explicitly described as "extremely casual," designed for people who play occasionally.

Scale and holdings

The fleet reports a substantial active membership and a set of max-level holdings across multiple factions.

Metric Figure
Members 375
Characters 1,296

Its fleets and holdings are all listed at Level 56:

  • Stonewall Fleet — main Federation fleet
  • House of Nagh reD — main Klingon fleet
  • Deep Space Stonewall — alternate Federation fleet
  • Stonewall Legion — Romulan-themed fleet

Character counts are distributed across them: Stonewall Fleet 340 characters, Deep Space Stonewall 497, House of Nagh reD 297, and Stonewall Legion 186.

Console groups

If you play on console, the fleet maintains separate groups you can join after registering:

  • Stonewall XB1 (Xbox One) — 58 followers
  • Stonewall PS4 (PlayStation 4) — 61 followers

Both are described as extremely casual fleets for players who only play the game occasionally, so they suit a low-commitment style rather than a hardcore schedule.

How to get involved

The site's calls to action are Join the Network and Learn More, with a login option for existing members. For console play, the guidance is to register first and then follow the relevant Xbox One or PS4 group. If you have further questions, the fleet points to a contact option and its forums.

One practical note: the page shows a login element, but it does not state whether joining, registering or any part of membership carries a cost, so treat pricing as unspecified rather than assumed free.
