How do I enable JavaScript to use support.mozilla.org?
Updated
Enable JavaScript in your browser, then reload the page. The message on support.mozilla.org — "JavaScript is disabled in your browser. Please enable JavaScript to proceed. A required part of this site couldn't load." — appears when the page can't run its scripts, so the site's own guidance is to turn JavaScript on, check your connection, disable ad blockers, or try a different browser. JavaScript is on by default in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, so if you see this message, something has switched it off or is blocking it.
First, rule out a temporary glitch
Before changing settings, try the quick checks the site itself suggests:
- Reload the page (press F5, or Ctrl+R / Cmd+R).
- Check your internet connection — a partial load can produce the same error.
- Disable ad blockers or privacy extensions for this site, then reload.
- Open support.mozilla.org in a different browser to see whether the problem follows the browser or the site.
If the message persists in every browser, the cause is more likely network-level filtering or security software than a browser setting.
Turn JavaScript on in your browser
The setting lives in different places depending on the browser. The paths below are the standard locations; menu wording can shift slightly between versions.
Firefox
- Open the menu and go to Settings.
- Select Privacy & Security.
- Scroll to the Permissions section.
- Make sure Enable JavaScript is checked (Firefox enables it by default and does not normally expose a simple on/off toggle, so if you don't see it, JavaScript is already on).
- If you use an extension that blocks scripts, disable it for this site.
Chrome
- Open Settings.
- Go to Privacy and security → Site settings.
- Select JavaScript.
- Choose Sites can use JavaScript (the default).
- Under Not allowed to use JavaScript, remove support.mozilla.org if it's listed.
Edge
- Open Settings.
- Go to Cookies and site permissions → JavaScript.
- Turn the toggle on (Allowed).
- Check the Block list and remove support.mozilla.org if present.
Safari
- Open Safari → Settings (or Preferences).
- Go to the Security tab.
- Make sure Enable JavaScript is checked.
- On iPhone or iPad: Settings → Safari → Advanced → turn JavaScript on.
If JavaScript is already enabled
When the setting is on but the message still appears, the block is coming from somewhere else:
- Extensions: Script blockers, privacy tools, and some ad blockers can stop page scripts. Disable them for support.mozilla.org or pause them entirely, then reload.
- Security software: Some antivirus and firewall suites filter web content and can strip scripts. Check whether the site loads with that protection paused.
- Network or corporate filters: A work, school, or public network may block scripts or the domains the page depends on. Try another network.
- Browser settings or profiles: A hardened privacy configuration or a corrupted profile can interfere. Test in a fresh profile or a different browser.
Verify the fix
After changing any setting, close the settings tab and reload support.mozilla.org. The page should load normally instead of showing the JavaScript notice. If it still fails, repeat the check in a second browser: if the site works there, the problem is in the first browser's settings or extensions; if it fails everywhere, look at your network or security software.
