What Is Turborilla and What Is It Known For?

Updated

Turborilla is a mobile action-sports game studio headquartered in Umeå, Sweden. It is best known as the maker of the Mad Skills franchise — a series of action-sports titles spanning motocross, BMX, snocross, and rallycross. If you're trying to place the name behind a game you've played or are curious about the studio's catalog, that franchise is the short answer.

What Turborilla Is

The studio describes itself as a mobile action-sports game studio based in Umeå, Sweden. Its stated focus is creating "world-class games and amazing experiences," and its identity is built around the Mad Skills brand rather than a broad, multi-genre portfolio.

Two things define the company at a glance:

  • Category: mobile action-sports games
  • Signature property: the Mad Skills franchise

The Mad Skills Franchise

Turborilla's game lineup is organized around the Mad Skills name. The titles listed on its site are:

Title Sport
Mad Skills Motocross 3 Motocross
Mad Skills Motocross 2 Motocross
Mad Skills BMX2 BMX
Mad Skills Snocross Snocross
Mad Skills Rallycross Rallycross

The pattern is consistent: each entry takes a different action-sport discipline and adapts it to a mobile format. The Motocross line is the most represented, with two numbered entries, while BMX, snocross, and rallycross each extend the franchise into a new sport.

Why It's Known for This

Turborilla's recognition comes from the Mad Skills series rather than from a single breakout title. By applying the same franchise approach across multiple action sports, the studio has built a recognizable brand in the mobile action-sports space. Its location in Umeå, Sweden, also places it within the country's game-development scene.

Beyond the Games

The site also points to hiring: a "Join Our Team" section invites people to explore careers, with the stated goal of creating world-class games and experiences together. That signals the studio is active in recruitment, not just publishing.
