How to Join, Update Your Info, or Support UNM Through UNM Alumni Connect
Updated
UNM Alumni Connect is the University of New Mexico alumni community site at unmalumni.com. You use it to join the alumni community, keep your contact details current, and find ways to give back — whether that's donating, volunteering, or serving in a governance role. The three tasks below are handled through different parts of the site, so start with the one that matches what you need.
Joining the community
The site's main navigation includes Join Community and Login at the top of the page. If you're new to the site, Join Community is the entry point for creating your connection to the alumni network. If you already have an account, Login takes you back in.
Once you're in, the community area gives you access to:
- Directory — a searchable alumni directory
- Alumni Profiles and Lobo Alumni LinkedIn — ways to find and connect with fellow Lobos
- Lobo Business Directory and Lobo Alumni Job Board — career-oriented resources
- Career Network and Career Connections — mentoring and career support
If you're not sure whether you already have an account, try Login first; if that fails, use Join Community.
Updating your information
Keeping your details current matters because it's how the alumni network reaches you about events, benefits, and regional activities. The site lists Find Fellow Lobos/Update Your Info in its navigation — that's the path for both locating other alumni and refreshing your own record.
Update your info when:
- You've moved or changed your email or phone number
- You want to appear correctly in the alumni directory
- You want to hear about events in your region, such as Regional Chile Roasts or Rio Grande Rivalry Watch Parties
Ways to support UNM
The site groups giving and service options under several headings. Here's how they break down:
| Way to support | Where it lives on the site |
|---|---|
| General giving | Ways Of Giving, The U Benefits, Contribute |
| Foundation giving | UNM Foundation |
| Branded support | Alumni License Plate |
| Volunteer service | Volunteering |
| Governance | Board of Directors |
| Chapter and group involvement | Chapters & Groups, All Chapters & Groups |
| Student support | Scholarships, UNM Students, Career Services & Mentoring |
Donating
Ways Of Giving and Contribute are the main giving entry points. UNM Foundation handles foundation-level giving, and the Alumni License Plate is a New Mexico-specific way to support the university. Sponsorship Opportunities exist for alumni who want to sponsor alumni programming.
Volunteering
Volunteering is listed as its own section. Volunteer pathways connect to the broader events and programs structure, which includes Tailgates, Pizza with Professionals, Hanging of the Greens, Lobo Living Room, The Alumni Vodcast, and Alumni Awards. If you want to help run or support an event, start with the Volunteering page and the specific event listing.
Serving in governance
Board of Directors is listed in the main navigation, alongside Alumni Relations Office Staff. If you're interested in a leadership or governance role rather than one-off volunteering, that's the section to review.
A practical order of operations
If you're starting from scratch, this sequence covers all three tasks:
- Go to unmalumni.com and use Join Community (or Login if you already have an account).
- Use Find Fellow Lobos/Update Your Info to confirm your record is accurate.
- Browse Ways Of Giving, UNM Foundation, or Alumni License Plate if you want to donate.
- Check Volunteering or Board of Directors if you want to give time instead of money.
- Explore Chapters & Groups and Events & Programs to find regional or affinity-based ways to stay involved.
Common sticking points
- Join vs. Login: These are separate entries. Joining creates your community presence; logging in returns you to an existing one.
- Updating vs. finding: The same navigation item (Find Fellow Lobos/Update Your Info) serves both purposes, so don't assume it's only for searching others.
- Giving vs. volunteering: These are distinct sections. If you want to donate, go to Ways Of Giving; if you want to serve, go to Volunteering. The Board of Directors path is for governance, not general volunteering.
- Regional vs. campus events: Some programming, like Regional Chile Roasts, happens outside New Mexico, so check the events listings even if you no longer live near campus.
