Who Can Join Charlotte Moms of Multiples?
Updated
Charlotte Moms of Multiples (CMOMS) is open to any household where multiples spend most of their time, and to expectant parents of multiple birth children. One membership is allowed per household. Despite the "Moms" in the name, the group welcomes all primary caregivers of multiples — moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and foster parents.
Who qualifies for membership
CMOMS states its membership is open to:
- All homes where multiples spend most of their time — this covers families already raising twins, triplets, or more.
- Expectant parents of multiple birth children — you can join before your babies arrive.
The group serves the Greater Charlotte area, spanning the Queen City and surrounding suburbs.
One membership per household
Only one membership is allowed per household. If two caregivers in the same home both want to participate, they join under a single household membership rather than registering separately.
It's not only for moms
CMOMS explicitly welcomes all primary caregivers of multiples, including:
- Moms
- Dads
- Aunts and uncles
- Grandparents
- Foster parents
The organization describes itself as serving "families raising multiples," and its member stages range from soon-to-be moms through empty-nester moms of multiples.
Membership levels and dues
CMOMS lists three membership tiers based on how long you've been a member:
| Membership type | Annual dues | Who it applies to |
|---|---|---|
| New & Renewing Members | $30 | Brand new to CMOMS, or renewing with fewer than 5 consecutive years |
| Crown Club Member | $20 | Member for 5+ consecutive years |
| Lifetime Club Member | $0 | Member for 10+ consecutive years |
There is also a Member Assistance Program that waives annual dues based on financial hardship criteria. For details, the group directs inquiries to [email protected].
What you get as a member
CMOMS was founded in 1960 and describes itself as the #1 support group for multiple birth families in the Greater Charlotte area, serving hundreds of members. Its stated focus areas are support, friendship, and community service, with outreach, scholarship, and member assistance programs, plus contributions to local charities such as KinderMourn and area NICUs.
How to decide
If you live in or near Charlotte and multiples spend most of their time in your home — or you're expecting multiples — you qualify for a household membership. If you're a primary caregiver other than a mom, you're still welcome. If cost is a barrier, ask about the Member Assistance Program before deciding not to join.
