What Is EN World?

Updated

EN World is a news and reviews site for Dungeons & Dragons and tabletop roleplaying games, built around an active forum community. It is useful if you want a single place to track D&D and TTRPG announcements, read reviews and columns, follow crowdfunding and release news, and discuss the hobby with other players and GMs. It is not an official Wizards of the Coast site, and it is not a rules reference or a virtual tabletop.

What EN World covers

The site's own description is straightforward: "EN World: D&D & Tabletop RPG News & Reviews." Its navigation shows the scope in more detail:

  • News and columns — general news, industry news, weekly news digests, and opinion columns.
  • Reviews — including a dedicated reviews section and a "Latest reviews" feed.
  • Game systems — Dungeons & Dragons, Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition, Pathfinder, Starfinder, Warhammer, the 2d20 System, and the Year Zero Engine.
  • Recurring columns — Dragon Reflections, White Dwarf Reflections, RPG Print News, RPG Crowdfunding News, Worlds of Design, Peregrine's Nest, RPG Evolution, Monster ENcyclopedia, and others.
  • Features and history — Million Dollar TTRPG Crowdfunders, Most Anticipated Tabletop RPGs Of The Year, Top 5 RPGs charts from 2004 to the present, and archival material such as Eric Noah's Unofficial D&D 3rd Edition News, Q&A With Gary Gygax, and histories of TSR, WotC, and Paizo.

If your interest is specifically D&D, the site also tracks upcoming releases with dates and comment counts. Examples listed on the page include Secrets of the Tome (A5E), Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft, Dark Sun, and Steel & Skill: The Complete Fighter's Field Guide.

Community, downloads, and store

Beyond articles, EN World hosts:

  • Forums — a forum list, latest posts, and topic areas for Dungeons & Dragons, Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition, older editions and OSR, tabletop general, Pathfinder and Starfinder, and geek talk and media.
  • Chat/Discord — linked from the community menu.
  • Resources — wiki pages, media, downloads, and reviews.
  • EN Publishing — the site's publishing arm, with products including EN5ider, Adventures in ZEITGEIST, Awfully Cheerful Engine, What's OLD is NEW, Judge Dredd & The Worlds Of 2000AD, War of the Burning Sky, and Level Up: Advanced 5E.

Accounts and ads

EN World offers registration and login, and an EN WORLD+ option described on the page as: "Upgrade your account to EN WORLD+ and remove most of the site ads." That is the only membership detail the page states — it does not list a price, so check the upgrade page for current terms before subscribing. The site also notes that JavaScript is required for the best experience.

When EN World is the right stop

Use EN World if you want hobby news, reviews, release tracking, crowdfunding coverage, and forum discussion in one place, especially for D&D and its close relatives. Skip it if you need official rules text, errata, or a licensed storefront — those live with the publishers, not here.
