How to Use the EN World Forums and Community

Updated

EN World's community runs on a XenForo-style forum plus a Discord server, and you can read most of it without an account. Register a free account when you want to post, reply, or download files. The main entry points are Forums & Topics, Chat/Discord, and Downloads, all reachable from the site's main menu.

What you can do without registering

  • Browse the forum list and read threads.
  • Check Latest Posts and Latest activity to see what's active right now.
  • View the Wiki Pages and Media sections.
  • Read Downloads → Latest reviews to see what other users say about a file.

Posting, replying, starting threads, and downloading require an account. The site also notes that upgrading to EN WORLD+ removes most ads — that's a paid upgrade, separate from free registration.

Registering and posting

  1. Click Register in the top menu (it appears in both the header and the slide-out menu).
  2. Complete the sign-up form and confirm your account.
  3. Open Forums & Topics → Forum list to pick the board that matches your topic.
  4. Open a thread and use the reply box at the bottom to post; use the button for starting a new thread inside a forum to begin your own topic.
  5. Watch your thread through What's New? → Latest activity to follow replies.

Expected result: your post appears in the thread immediately, and replies show up under Latest activity and in your account's alerts.

Which forum to use

Board Use it for
*Dungeons & Dragons D&D 5E, A5E/Level Up, and current D&D discussion
D&D Older Editions, OSR, & D&D Variants Retro clones, OSR games, older-edition rules talk
*Pathfinder & Starfinder Paizo's two systems
*Tabletop General Anything that doesn't fit a system-specific board
EN Publishing EN Publishing's own games and products
*Geek Talk & Media Films, TV, books, and non-RPG media

Posting in the right board is the main thing that gets you useful answers — a rules question about an older edition belongs in the older-editions board, not in Tabletop General.

Discord and downloads

  • Chat/Discord is linked from the same menu as the forums. It's the faster option for quick questions and real-time chat; the forum is better for anything you want to be searchable later.
  • Downloads hosts files with a review system. Browse Latest reviews first — it tells you whether a file is worth your time before you spend an account action on it.

Common snags

  • JavaScript disabled: the site warns that the forum works poorly without it. Enable JavaScript before troubleshooting anything else.
  • Outdated browser: the site explicitly flags old browsers and asks you to upgrade. If menus or the reply box misbehave, this is the first thing to check.
  • Can't find a board: the full list lives under Forums & Topics → Forum list; the top-level menu only shows highlights.
  • Ads: if they bother you, the site's own suggestion is the EN WORLD+ upgrade, which removes most of them.
