How to Find Civic Orchestra of Victoria Concerts and Tickets

Updated

The Civic Orchestra of Victoria lists its season concerts and ticket information on its official site, civicorchestraofvictoria.org. The current season shown on the home page is the 2026–2027 season, marking 43 years of music-making. If you want to attend a performance, start with the "Concerts" section of the site; if you want to play, check the vacancies and membership details further down the page.

Finding the Concert Schedule

The site's main navigation includes a Concerts entry. The 2026–2027 season lists four concerts:

Concert Title
Concert 1 Remembrance
Concert 2 Sing-along Messiah
Concert 3 Passions
Concert 4 The Yeomen of the Guard

The orchestra usually performs four concerts each year, with rehearsals starting in September and ending by late May. Players can check the Players' Page for a schedule and calendar giving the dates for the 2026–2027 season.

Getting Tickets

The main navigation includes a Tickets link, alongside Support, Donors, and Sponsors. The site does not publish pricing or payment details in the available page content, so check the Tickets page directly for current prices and how to buy.

Venues

Two venues are named on the site:

  • Dave Dunnet Theatre — listed as a venue
  • United Commons (First Met.) — listed as a rehearsal venue

Concert and venue details are available on the site, so confirm the specific venue for each concert on its listing.

If You Want to Play, Not Just Listen

The orchestra is a volunteer organization, inaugurated in 1983, open to musicians of varying ages and abilities in the Capital Regional District of Victoria, BC, Canada. For the 2026–2027 season it invites applications for Principal Violist, effective immediately. It also says it is always looking for capable string section musicians — these are non-auditioned positions, but strong music reading skills and at least three years of performance experience are recommended, and some large ensemble experience is an asset.

Two conditions matter before you commit:

  • All members are volunteers, and playing requires membership in the organization (fees apply).
  • The orchestra recommends reviewing its rehearsal schedule, attendance policy, and roles and responsibilities documents before joining.

To express interest, email [email protected] with some information about yourself before attending a rehearsal. The site welcomes adults of all ages and backgrounds.
