What Is PasteDL and What Can It Be Used For?
Updated
PasteDL is a free online downloader for public Instagram and TikTok content. You paste a public link, and it returns the file as MP4 (video) or JPG (photo) — no account login, no app install, and no watermark added by PasteDL. It only works with public content; private, deleted, or restricted posts won't download.
What PasteDL can download
PasteDL handles two platforms through separate tool sets.
Instagram — videos, Reels, stories, photos, carousels, highlights, and profile pictures.
TikTok — videos (saved as MP4 without the TikTok watermark) and profile pictures.
| Content type | Platform | Output format |
|---|---|---|
| Videos / Reels | MP4 | |
| Stories | MP4 or JPG | |
| Photos / carousels | JPG | |
| Highlights | MP4 or JPG | |
| Profile pictures | Instagram, TikTok | JPG |
| Videos | TikTok | MP4 (no watermark) |
How it works
The process is the same for both platforms and takes three steps.
- Copy the link. On Instagram, open a public post, story, Reel, Highlight, or profile and copy the link from the share menu. On TikTok, tap Share on the video and choose Copy link — short
vm.tiktok.comlinks also work. - Paste into PasteDL. The tool detects the content type and prepares the MP4 or JPG on its media backend. It never asks for your Instagram or TikTok password.
- Click Download. The file saves to your device. Videos and Reels come out as MP4; photos and photo stories as JPG.
What it does not do
- No login required, and none is offered. PasteDL doesn't ask for platform credentials, so there's no account connection involved.
- No personal download library. Downloads aren't stored in a PasteDL account history — the site keeps only limited technical logs for security and operations.
- No watermark added by PasteDL. For TikTok, the output is a clean MP4 without the TikTok watermark, which is the main reason people use it over screen recording.
- Public content only. Private, deleted, or otherwise restricted posts won't work, regardless of platform.
One thing worth knowing: the source platforms may still log requests under their own policies. PasteDL's no-login design removes the credential step, not the platform's own record-keeping.
Who it's for
PasteDL fits a simple use case: you want to save a specific public Instagram or TikTok file to your own device — a Reel to reference, a photo to keep, a TikTok video without the watermark overlay — and you don't want to install an app or hand over login details. It works on iPhone, Android, Windows, and Mac through the browser.
It's not a bulk archiver, a private-content tool, or a service that maintains a library of what you've downloaded. If your need is one of those, PasteDL isn't the right fit.
