AIVA Free vs Standard vs Pro: Copyright, Monetization, and Download Limits
Updated
AIVA's three individual plans differ mainly in who owns the copyright, where you can monetize, and how many downloads you get. The Free plan keeps copyright with AIVA and blocks monetization entirely; Standard (€11/month billed annually) lets you monetize only on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, and Instagram; Pro (€33/month billed annually) gives you full copyright ownership and unrestricted monetization. If you just want to experiment with AI-generated music for personal, non-commercial use, Free is enough. If you post to social platforms and want to earn from them, Standard covers it. If you need to own your compositions and monetize anywhere, Pro is the only tier that grants that.

Copyright and monetization: the real dividing line
This is the part that matters most if you plan to publish or earn from your tracks.
Free plan. AIVA owns the copyright. You cannot monetize the music in any form, and you must credit AIVA wherever you use it. This makes Free suitable for learning, personal projects, or non-commercial background music — not for anything you want to sell or earn from.
Standard plan. AIVA still owns the copyright, but you're allowed to monetize on four specific platforms: YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, and Instagram. You don't need to credit AIVA. The limitation is the platform list — if you want to distribute to Spotify, sell sync licenses, or use the track in a client project, Standard doesn't cover that.
Pro plan. You own the full copyright of your compositions, permanently, and can monetize without restrictions. No credit required. This is the tier AIVA recommends for creators who want to own their work and use it anywhere.
One detail worth noting: AIVA's page states Pro ownership is "forever," which matters if you plan to keep using a track long after your subscription ends. The page doesn't spell out what happens to Standard or Free tracks if you cancel, so if long-term rights are critical to you, Pro is the safer choice.
Download limits and file formats
Your monthly download count and export options scale with the plan:
- Free: 3 downloads/month, MP3 and MIDI only, tracks up to 3 minutes.
- Standard: 15 downloads/month, MP3 and MIDI, tracks up to 5 minutes.
- Pro: 300 downloads/month, all file formats including high-quality WAV, tracks up to 5 minutes 30 seconds.
If you need WAV files for professional editing or mastering, only Pro provides them. If you're working entirely in MIDI or just need quick MP3 demos, Free and Standard are sufficient on the format side — the constraint becomes the download count.
Which plan fits you
- Complete beginner, non-commercial use only, fine with crediting AIVA: Free. Three downloads a month is enough to try the tool and see whether AI generation fits your workflow.
- Content creator monetizing on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, or Instagram: Standard. It removes the credit requirement and unlocks platform monetization at a fraction of Pro's price. Check that your target platforms are on the allowed list before subscribing.
- Creator or professional who needs to own the copyright, distribute widely, or use tracks commercially without platform limits: Pro. The copyright ownership and unrestricted monetization are the deciding factors, and the 300 downloads plus WAV export support heavier production workflows.
Students, schools, and enterprises
AIVA lists separate pricing categories for Students & Schools and for Enterprises, but the individual pricing page doesn't show those rates. For student and school discounts, AIVA directs you to reach out through its contact form or live chat. If you're buying on behalf of an institution or company, use the same contact route rather than assuming the individual plans apply.
What AIVA doesn't tell you on this page
The pricing page doesn't specify what happens to your rights if you downgrade or cancel a paid plan, nor does it detail how copyright registration works for Pro-owned tracks. If either point affects your decision, confirm directly with AIVA before subscribing. The page also doesn't state whether the free account requires login to generate tracks — it only confirms no credit card is needed.
