Can I install mods and change my skin in Legacy Launcher?
Updated
Yes. Legacy Launcher supports both mod installation and skin changes. You can install popular Forge and Fabric versions automatically in just a few clicks, or install them manually the same way you would with the official launcher. To change your skin, you and your friends need a free Ely.by account, which you manage through the Accounts menu in the launcher.
Installing mods
Legacy Launcher offers two paths for mods, depending on how much control you want.
Automatic installation (Forge and Fabric)
The launcher includes popular Forge and Fabric versions that can be installed automatically in just a few clicks. This is the fastest route if you just want a modded setup without touching files yourself.
Manual installation
You can also install Forge and Fabric manually, just like with the official launcher. Choose this if you need a specific version, a custom setup, or want to understand exactly what is being placed where.
Changing your skin
Skin changes in Legacy Launcher go through Ely.by:
- You and your friends should use a free Ely.by account.
- Account and skin management happens in the Accounts menu in the launcher.
So the practical steps are: create a free Ely.by account, add it in the launcher's Accounts menu, and manage your skin from there.
Quick reference
| Task | What you need | Where to do it |
|---|---|---|
| Install Forge/Fabric automatically | Nothing extra | Launcher's version options |
| Install Forge/Fabric manually | Mod files | Same approach as the official launcher |
| Change skin | Free Ely.by account | Accounts menu |
