How do I download Fork and get support?

Updated

Download Fork from the official website at fork.gg using the "Download" link in the site navigation. Support is handled through the project's Discord server, which the site links to directly and describes as the place to get help if you can't run your server. Before downloading, check that your machine meets the Windows-only system requirements listed on the site.

Downloading Fork

The site's navigation includes a DOWNLOAD section alongside FEATURES, FAQ, and DOCS. That is the entry point for getting the application.

System requirements

Fork currently runs only on Windows. The site lists these supported systems:

Requirement Details
Windows 8.1 64-bit
Windows 10 Version 1607 or later (64-bit)
Windows Server 2016 Or later (64-bit)
Windows Server Nano Version 1809 or later (64-bit)

Mac and Linux are not supported yet. The site states the team is working on solutions to bring Fork to those platforms, but no release is announced.

What you get after installing

Once running, Fork is a GUI for managing Minecraft servers. From the site's feature list, the main areas are:

  • Terminal Page — manage players, see server status, and run commands in the Minecraft console.
  • Custom Settings Pages — configure your server through form-style pages that validate your inputs and write them to the correct configuration files.
  • Built in Editor — edit configuration files that don't yet have a custom page, without leaving Fork.
  • Create Page — create servers or whole proxy networks in a few clicks.
  • Import Page — point Fork at an existing Minecraft server on your system and it integrates it for you.

It also supports running multiple servers at once and combining them into a single network using Waterfall, plus a plugin manager for Paper servers.

Getting support

The site points to a Discord server for help, described as "Fast Support" — the place to go if you can't get your server running. The Discord link appears in the site navigation next to Download.

Other resources on the site:

  • FAQ — covers common questions. Note the current FAQ entry: Fork is undergoing a major rework, and until that's done there will be only small bugfix updates.
  • DOCS — documentation section linked in the navigation.
  • Ko-fi — a link for covering project costs if you want to support development.

Things to know before you start

  • Windows only for now. If you're on Mac or Linux, Fork won't run on your machine yet.
  • Free and open source. The site states there's no need for a credit card, and the source code is publicly available if you want to add a feature yourself.
  • Version support. Fork says it always supports the newest versions of each server type (Minecraft, Paper, etc.) and plans to add more types.
  • Development status. Because of the ongoing rework, expect bugfix-level updates rather than large feature drops in the near term.
