How much does an Australian Bridge Magazine subscription cost and what does it include?
Updated
Australian Bridge Magazine publishes four issues a year, and a one-year subscription costs $49 in Australia, AU$69 in New Zealand and Asia, and AU$79 for the rest of the world. A two-year subscription (eight issues) is also available at a discount: $92 in Australia, AU$129 for NZ/Asia, and AU$149 elsewhere. Subscriptions can be arranged through the subscription form on the website, by phone, or by email — the site lists all three contact routes.
Subscription rates by region
| Region | 1 year (4 issues) | 2 years (8 issues) |
|---|---|---|
| Australia | $49 | $92 |
| NZ / Asia | AU$69 | AU$129 |
| Rest of world | AU$79 | AU$149 |
The two-year option works out cheaper per issue in every region, so it suits readers who already know they want the magazine long term. If you are unsure, the one-year rate is the lower-commitment entry point.
What you get
A subscription covers the print magazine, which the site describes as carrying:
- Event reports — the current issue (August–September 2026) covers the Asia Cup, the ANC and the Victorian Festival.
- Regular columns from writers and teachers including Tim Bourke, Ron Klinger, Paul Lavings, Kim Frazer and Larry Cohen.
- New features, with Simon Cochemé and Andrew Dueck named for the current issue.
- The experts' Bidding Forum, moderated by Phil Gue and Fraser Rew.
Subscribers also get access to an Online Supplement that accompanies each issue. According to the site, it contains print-friendly versions of the Bidding Challenge hands, time-sensitive news, and articles that did not fit in the printed magazine. There is also a readers' version of the bidding forum online, moderated by Brad Coles and Nigel Kearney, with archived columns accessible from the current month's page.
How to subscribe
The site gives three routes:
- Online — use the subscription form linked from the subscriptions section.
- Phone — 0412 335 840.
- Email — [email protected].
Postal address, if you need it: 2 Jonsson Court, Dunlop ACT 2615.
Things to check before you pay
- Issue timing can shift. The site notes that the August issue was postponed by one month, with an apology for the inconvenience. If you are subscribing around an issue date, it is worth confirming the current schedule.
- Rates are listed in the header bar. The site points readers to the top of the page for current subscription rates, so treat the figures above as the published rates at the time of writing rather than a permanent price.
- The Australia-Wide Pairs events are separate. The Novice Pairs (25–31 May, under 100 MP), Open Pairs (25–31 August, open to all) and Restricted Pairs (25–31 October, under 300 MP) are run alongside the magazine, not included in a subscription. Results and FAQs are published on their own pages.
If your main interest is the bidding forum or the event coverage, a one-year subscription is enough to judge whether the mix suits you; if you already read it regularly, the two-year rate saves money in every region.
