How much does PDFGenie cost, and should I choose a subscription or one-off credits?
Updated
PDFGenie bills by pages, not seats. A monthly subscription starts at $15 for 400 pages and refreshes every month; one-off credit packs start at $9 for 100 pages and never expire. Choose a subscription if you convert statements every month and want the lowest effective rate on a steady volume; choose one-off credits if your need is seasonal (tax season, a loan application) and you don't want to pay in the months you don't convert.
Subscription plans
All three plans include Excel and CSV downloads and balance reconciliation, and credits refresh every month. You can cancel any time.
| Plan | Price (monthly) | Pages per month | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $15 / month | 400 | Freelancers and personal finances |
| Professional | $30 / month | 1,000 | Bookkeepers with a few clients |
| Business | $50 / month | 4,000 | Accounting firms and teams |
Annual billing is listed as saving 50% versus monthly. If you convert consistently, that halves the effective monthly cost — but it also commits you for the year, so only take it if your volume is predictable.
Note what a "page" means here: one page of a PDF, not one statement or one account. A long statement with many pages consumes more credits than a short one, so estimate from page counts rather than from the number of files.
One-off page credits
If you only need conversions occasionally, credits are a one-time purchase with no subscription. They never expire, so a tax season or a loan application doesn't leave you paying every month.
| Pack | Price | Rate | Roughly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 pages | $9 | 9.0¢ per page | A few months of statements |
| 300 pages | $19 | 6.3¢ per page | A tax season or a loan application |
| 1,000 pages | $49 | 4.9¢ per page | A year of statements for several accounts |
The per-page rate drops as the pack gets bigger, so if you're confident you'll eventually use the pages, the larger packs are cheaper per page even without a subscription.
How to decide
Work out your monthly page volume first, then compare:
- Converting every month, steady volume → subscription. At 400 pages, Starter works out to roughly 3.75¢ per page; at 4,000 pages, Business is about 1.25¢ per page. Both beat the best one-off rate of 4.9¢.
- A burst of work a few times a year → one-off credits. You pay once and the unused pages wait for you.
- Volume that varies a lot month to month → credits avoid paying for months you don't use, but a subscription's monthly refresh means unused credits don't roll over, so a quiet month is wasted spend.
- Annual billing → only worth it if you're already sure you'll hit the plan's page count every month for the year.
Before you pay: the free tier
You don't need either option to test the converter. PDFGenie offers 1 free document a day with no account required, and files are auto-deleted — after 24 hours normally, or 72 hours if a conversion fails. Uploaded files and results can also be deleted by you at any time, and password-protected PDFs are unlocked in memory without storing the password. Run a real statement through the free tier first to confirm the output matches your bank's formatting before committing to a plan or a credit pack.
