How ProFile Tax Suites, Individual Modules, and OnePay Single Returns Differ

Updated

ProFile sells its tax software three ways: Tax Suites (all modules in one install), individual modules (T1, T2, T3, FX, and others bought separately), and OnePay (a pay-per-return option for people who only need a single return). Choose a Suite if you file across multiple tax types, a single module if you work in one area, and OnePay if you expect one return or a small volume. All three share the same core engine — a single install that gives you access to all years and modules, returns going back a decade, a real-time auditor, and CRA EFILE tools built into ProFile.

What each option actually includes

Option What you get Best fit
Tax Suites Federal & Québec Suites with all modules and features for individual, corporate, and trust returns; comprehensive forms and worksheets including GST, HST, and QST forms Preparers handling a mix of T1, T2, T3, and other return types
Individual modules T1/TP1 (personal), T2/CO-17 (corporate), T3, T4/T5 and other tax forms, FX — purchased on their own Practices that specialize in one return type
OnePay Single returns, positioned for users who only need one return Occasional filers or one-off returns

Tax Suites: one install, every module

The Suites are the broadest option. Per the product page, a single install gives you access to all years and modules, and the Suites cover individual, corporate, and trust returns with flexible licensing. You also get a comprehensive list of forms and worksheets including GST, HST, and QST forms, returns going back a decade, the real-time auditor, and CRA EFILE tools.

Choose a Suite when your workload crosses return types — for example, a T1 client who also needs a T2 filed — and you'd rather not manage separate module purchases.

Individual modules: pay for the return type you file

Modules are sold separately, so you can buy only what you use:

  • T1 / T1/TP1 (personal): comprehensive T1 forms and worksheets, EFILE for unlimited T1/TP1 returns individually or multiple in one session, variance analysis to see the potential impact of changes to a return, flexible licensing, and access to returns going back a decade.
  • T2 / CO-17 (corporate): includes the ability to file a group of corporations efficiently by importing information.
  • T3, T4/T5 and other tax forms, and FX: available as their own modules.

Choose a module when your work is concentrated in one area. If you file personal returns only, a T1/TP1 module covers the forms, EFILE, and variance analysis without paying for corporate or trust capability.

OnePay: for a single return

OnePay is explicitly positioned for users who only need a single return. If you're filing one return — or very few — this avoids committing to a module or Suite license. The trade-off is scope: OnePay is a single-return purchase, not a full module with the unlimited EFILE and multi-return workflow described for the T1/TP1 module.

Pricing signals and current promotions

The site shows a ProFile 2026 sale with discounts advertised as:

  • $200 off Suites
  • $180 off the T1/TP1 + T2 CO-17 bundle
  • $90 off the T1/TP1 Module

The page also states "Save up to $200" with a fall sale ending October 13, and lists a free trial and a Pricing & bundles page. OnePay pricing is shown on the page as 20 T1 returns for $320 and T1/TP1 for $405. Treat these as the figures published on the site at the time you read them — check the pricing page for current amounts, since sale end dates and bundle pricing change.

How to decide

  1. List the return types you'll file this season (T1, T2, T3, T4/T5, trust).
  2. If more than one type: compare the Suite price against buying each module separately — the Suite includes all modules and features, so it usually wins once you need two or more.
  3. If exactly one type and high volume: buy that module (for example, T1/TP1 for unlimited personal EFILE and variance analysis).
  4. If one return or a handful: use OnePay.
  5. Before buying: confirm licensing terms and prior-year access for your chosen option, and check whether the current sale applies to it.

Common sticking points

  • "All years and modules" applies to the install, not your license. The page describes a single install giving access to all years and modules, but what you're entitled to use depends on the option you buy.
  • OnePay isn't a module. Don't expect the unlimited EFILE or multi-return session behavior described for the T1/TP1 module.
  • Sale pricing is time-bound. The fall sale end date is stated on the page; verify it before relying on a discount.
  • Support is available if you're unsure: sales at 1-844-861-3600, support at 1-800-452-9970, and live chat, Monday–Friday 9am–6pm ET.
