How The Dark Fortress Helps With Dark Angels and Unforgiven 40K Wargaming

The Dark Fortress (thedarkfortress.co.uk) is a fan resource site for the Dark Angels Space Marine Chapter in Warhammer 40K. It collects tactics, orders of battle, army lists, special scenarios, hobby tips, image galleries, and downloadable banners and decals in one place. It is most useful if you already play Dark Angels or Unforgiven and want practical material to improve list-building, in-game decisions, or the look of your army.

What the site actually offers

The homepage describes it as "a repository of information on the Dark Angels Space Marine Chapter," with the goal of helping you "get the best out of your Dark Angels and Unforgiven 40K wargaming." Its content is organized into named sections:

How each part helps your games

Tactics and orders of battle

The Tactica Reports section is where gameplay thinking lives: tactics, company dispositions, and orders of battle. Use these when you are deciding how to deploy or structure a force, or when you want a second opinion on how a Dark Angels list should function on the table.

Army lists and scenarios

Tech Reports covers army lists, special scenarios and rules, and game statistics. This is the section to check when you want a ready-made list idea or a scenario to try in your next game rather than building everything from scratch.

Hobby and modeling support

The same Tech Reports section includes hobby tips and book/rule reviews, while the Librarium provides downloadable printable banners and decals plus Dark Angels names and reference material. These help with personalizing an army — unit markings, names, and printed decoration — rather than with rules decisions.

Visual inspiration

The Oratorium is an image gallery of Unforgiven models. Browse it when you need painting or conversion ideas, or when you want to see how other players present the Chapter on the tabletop.

When this site is the right stop

• You play Dark Angels or Unforgiven and want tactics, dispositions, or orders of battle to compare against your own approach.
• You want army lists or special scenarios to test in a game.
• You are looking for hobby tips, or for printable banners, decals, and Dark Angels naming references.
• You want a gallery of Unforgiven models for painting and modeling inspiration.

When it may not be what you need

The site is a fan repository focused on one Chapter. If you play a different faction, or you need current official rules text rather than community tactics and reviews, this is not the primary source. Rule and book reviews on the site are commentary, so treat them as opinion rather than as the rules themselves.

Practical notes

• Content is organized by section, so start from the navigation (Headquarters, Bulletins, Tactica Reports, Tech Reports, Librarium, Oratorium, Augurium) and go straight to the area matching your task.
• The site lists a Patreon link and social channels (RSS, Twitter, Facebook), and states it is "Powered by enthusiasm" — it is a community effort, not an official publisher.
• No pricing or login requirements are stated in the available site information, so check the site directly if you need to confirm access to any specific download or page.
