How to Attend a Santa Clara Valley Koi and Water Garden Club Meeting or Ask a Pond Question

Updated

You can attend a meeting as a guest by emailing [email protected] up to two hours before the start time to request access, or simply show up to an in-person event. Meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM, either online via Zoom or in person at a member's pond, depending on the season and event. You can also send pond or koi questions to the same email address and draw on the combined experience of the membership.

Attending a Meeting

The club uses a hybrid format, so the first thing to confirm is whether a given month's meeting is online or in person.

  • Online (Zoom): Meeting access details are sent to members ahead of time. Guests who want to join need to email [email protected] up to 2 hours before the meeting to receive access.
  • In person: Some months the club meets at a member's pond on a weekend instead of the regular Tuesday slot.
  • Timing: The standard schedule is the third Tuesday at 7:30 PM. The club notes it meets most months, not necessarily every month, so check the website for the most current information before you go.

For a concrete example: if the next general meeting is Tuesday, October 20 at 7:30 PM via Zoom, a guest would email [email protected] no later than 5:30 PM that day to get the link.

Guest Policy

Guests are welcome to attend their first meeting or two without joining. If you'd like to attend more frequently, the club asks that you become a member by paying dues.

Asking a Pond or Koi Question

If you have a pond or koi question or issue, email [email protected]. The club states that its membership has much combined experience with most koi, pond, and water gardening issues, and members will do their best to provide assistance. This is a reasonable first stop for troubleshooting before you consider paid professional help.

What the Club Covers

The club's focus areas are koi keeping, water gardening, and DIY aquaponics. Beyond monthly meetings, it hosts an annual in-person holiday event in December for members, and it offers support to local and regional koi groups, events, and education on an as-needed basis. If you or your group want support for a koi, water garden, or DIY aquaponics effort, the club invites you to reach out.
