How to Browse and Find Popular Games on PlayCanvas Explore
Updated
Open playcanv.as and use the Most Played view to see published PlayCanvas apps and games ranked by play count. Each row in the list is a direct link to that project, so you can click any title to open and play it. Switch to the All view if you want to see the full set of published work rather than just the most-played titles.
What the Explore page shows
The landing page is a public gallery of published PlayCanvas content. It mixes games, demos, tutorials, and interactive product configurators, so "popular" here means most played, not necessarily most game-like.
Each entry follows the same pattern:
- Title — the name of the app or game (e.g., TANX, SWOOOP, Master Archer)
- Creator — the account or studio that published it (e.g.,
playcanvas,will,benbeanorg) - Play count — a number with a K/M suffix (e.g., 30M, 4.1M, 967K)
The play count is the only popularity signal shown, and it is cumulative, not a rating. A high count tells you many people opened it; it does not tell you whether it is good, recent, or still working.
Step-by-step: find something to play
- Go to playcanv.as.
- Stay on the default Most Played view to see titles ordered by play count, highest first.
- Scan the titles and play counts to pick a candidate. The top of the list is dominated by a few very large numbers — Buzzy Bee at 30M, BMW i8 at 4.1M, Monopoly at 4M, TANX at 2.7M, SWOOOP at 2.4M.
- Click the title to open the project. It loads in the browser; no install step is described on the page.
- Use All to browse beyond the ranked list if the top titles are not what you want.
Expected result: the selected project opens and runs in your browser. Verification: the page title and creator should match the row you clicked.
Reading the list to pick well
Because the list mixes content types, sort your expectations by creator and title:
| What you see | Likely what it is | Example from the list |
|---|---|---|
Short arcade-style names by playcanvas |
Official sample games and demos | TANX, SWOOOP, Master Archer, Keepy Up |
| Brand or product names | Interactive configurators or showcases | BMW i8, Box Configurator, HiCan |
| "Tutorial" or "Sample" in the title | Learning material, not a game | Tutorials, Sample Game: Keepy Up, Tutorial: FPS Movement |
| Technical terms | Engine feature demos | Gaussian Splats FPS, Sponza Lightmap Demo, WebXR VR Lab |
If you want a game specifically, prefer entries with game-like titles and high counts. If you want to learn the engine, the tutorial and sample entries are the better click even at lower play counts.
Common snags
- Play count is not quality. A 30M count on Buzzy Bee reflects reach, not a review score. Judge by title and creator instead.
- Old projects may not run. The gallery includes long-lived demos; a project that loads slowly or shows a blank canvas is a content problem, not a browsing problem. Try another entry.
- "All" is not a search. The page evidence shows a ranked list and an All view, not a search box. To find a specific title, scan the list or use your browser's find function on the page.
- Login is separate. The page shows Login and Sign Up links, but the evidence does not state what they unlock, so treat browsing and playing as the public path and do not assume an account is required to open a listed project.
Quick answer
Use Most Played on playcanv.as to find the highest-play titles, click any row to play it, and switch to All to see everything published. Read the creator name to tell official samples, brand demos, and tutorials apart from games before you click.
