EnglishHow to Buy or Play the Celeste and TowerFall Games on Maddy Makes Games' itch.io Page
Updated
The Maddy Makes Games itch.io page lists several Celeste and TowerFall titles, and the right way to get each one depends on whether it is a paid download or a browser game. Paid titles show a price on the page — Celeste at $19.99, TowerFall Ascension at $14.99, TowerFall 8-Player at $4, and the TowerFall Dark World Expansion at $4.99. Celeste Classic and Celeste Classic 2 are marked "Play in browser," so you can try them without a purchase. Before buying, open the individual game page to confirm the platform and download details, since the listing page itself does not spell those out.
What's on the page
| Title | Listed price | How it's offered |
|---|---|---|
| Celeste | $19.99 | Paid title |
| TowerFall Ascension | $14.99 | Paid title |
| TowerFall Dark World Expansion | $4.99 | Paid expansion |
| TowerFall 8-Player | $4 | Paid mod |
| Celeste Classic | No price shown; "Play in browser" | Browser game |
| Celeste Classic 2 | No price shown; "Play in browser" | Browser game |
| Celeste 64: Fragments of the Mountain | No price shown | Listed on the page |
The page also mentions a Celeste 6th Anniversary Challenge, so check the page itself for current event details rather than assuming a schedule.
Buying a paid game
- From the Maddy Makes Games page, select the title you want (for example, Celeste or TowerFall Ascension).
- On that game's page, confirm the price and look for the platform and download information before paying.
- Complete the purchase through itch.io's checkout, then download the game from your itch.io library.
The listing page shows prices but not payment methods, so treat the checkout step as something to verify on the game page itself.
Playing the free browser games
Celeste Classic and Celeste Classic 2 are labeled "Play in browser," which means you can start them from the page without buying anything. Celeste Classic is described as a PICO-8 platformer about climbing a mountain, and Celeste Classic 2 is described as a PICO-8 platformer made in three days. If a browser game does not load, check that your browser allows the embedded player and try a different browser.
Choosing between the TowerFall items
TowerFall Ascension is the base game at $14.99. The Dark World Expansion ($4.99) adds content to it, and TowerFall 8-Player ($4) is described as the official eight-player mod. If you want the full multiplayer experience, start with Ascension and add the expansion; pick up the 8-Player mod only if you specifically need eight-player matches. The page does not state compatibility requirements for the mod or expansion, so confirm them on each item's page.
Common snags
- Assuming browser games are downloads. The "Play in browser" label means exactly that; there is no stated download for those titles.
- Skipping the individual game page. Platform and download details live there, not on the main listing.
- Mixing up the free and paid Celeste entries. Celeste ($19.99) is separate from Celeste Classic and Celeste Classic 2, which are browser games.
- Expecting a price for every title. Celeste 64: Fragments of the Mountain appears on the page without a listed price, so check its own page for how it is offered.
