How to Check RAMBO Trail Status Before You Ride

RAMBO posts current trail status in two places: the trail status section of rambo-mtb.org and the RAMBO MTB Trail Status account on X (Twitter) at https://x.com/rambomtbstatus. The website is the fastest check because it needs no login; the X account is useful only if you already use X and want push notifications. Status covers Big Creek, Mt. Adams, Charleston Park, Haw Creek, and Matt Park.

Check the RAMBO Website First

  1. Go to rambo-mtb.org.
  2. Find the trail status block on the home page. It shows a timestamp and a per-trail list.
  3. Read the status for the park you plan to ride.

The site displays status as a dated snapshot, for example: "As of Wed, 9/23 at 07:34 AM." Each location is then listed with a checkmark or status marker:

Expected result: you see whether your target trail is open before you load the bike. If the timestamp is old, treat the status as stale and verify on X or with the group before driving out.

Check X (Twitter) for Updates and Push Alerts

RAMBO states that trail status is posted simultaneously to the webpage and to the RAMBO MTB Trail Status account on X.

  • Open https://x.com/rambomtbstatus.
  • Note that X requires login to see the latest tweets, so this route only works if you have an account.
  • To get alerts without checking manually, use the X app to configure push notifications for status changes.

Common snag: if you are not logged in to X, you may not see the newest post even though the account exists. Fall back to the website in that case.

Why Status Changes Matter

Trail status is not cosmetic. Trails close for wet conditions, active work parties, and event setup. The events list on the site shows why a given weekend may be affected — for example, a Quick Six Prep Work Party, a Freeflite Group Ride, Little Hammies, or the Quick Six Enduro and Bike Fest, all listed at Big Creek Park. If your ride date overlaps an event or work party, check status even if the weather looks fine.

Quick Pre-Ride Checklist

  • Confirm the park name matches the status list (Big Creek, Mt. Adams, Charleston Park, Haw Creek, Matt Park).
  • Check the "as of" timestamp — a recent one is more trustworthy.
  • If you need alerts, set up X push notifications; otherwise re-check the website on the morning of your ride.
  • If the site and X disagree, trust the more recent timestamp and confirm with RAMBO before traveling.
