How to Check the Current Meta in Pokémon UNITE with Unite API

Updated

Unite API (uniteapi.dev) shows the current patch meta through three ranked lists: Win Rate, Ban Rate, and Pick Rate. Open the site and look at the "Meta — This Patch" section to see the top five Pokémon in each category, along with the change from the previous period (for example, +2.1% or -0.2%). The lists update with the patch, so what you see reflects the current version rather than a historical average.

What the three lists tell you

Each list answers a different question about the same patch:

List What it measures How to read it
Win Rate How often a Pokémon wins when picked High win rate suggests the Pokémon performs well in the current patch
Ban Rate How often players ban it High ban rate suggests players consider it too strong or too annoying to face
Pick Rate How often it is chosen High pick rate suggests popularity, not necessarily strength

A Pokémon can rank high on one list and low on another. That gap is often the useful signal.

Reading the current patch data

The site's Meta section shows the top five for each list with a percentage and a delta. Based on the current page data:

Win Rate

  1. Gyarados — 53.3% (-0.2%)
  2. Duraludon — 53.3% (-0.2%)
  3. Garchomp — 53.0% (-0.4%)
  4. (name not resolved in the data) — 52.7% (-0.1%)
  5. Mr. Mime — 52.6% (+2.1%)

Ban Rate

  1. (name not resolved in the data) — 99.4% (+7.1%)
  2. Mr. Mime — 0.7% (-0.0%)
  3. Duraludon — 0.5% (+0.2%)
  4. Gyarados — 0.2% (+0.1%)
  5. Garchomp — 0.2% (+0.0%)

Pick Rate

  1. (name not resolved in the data) — 19.3% (+4.4%)
  2. Mr. Mime — 7.3% (-0.1%)
  3. Garchomp — 5.0% (+0.1%)
  4. Duraludon — 3.4% (-0.1%)
  5. Gyarados — 3.2% (+0.3%)

How to interpret the numbers

  • The delta matters as much as the value. Mr. Mime's win rate is 52.6% with a +2.1% change — a rising trend. Gyarados and Duraludon sit at the same 53.3% but are both down 0.2%, so they are holding steady or cooling slightly.
  • A near-100% ban rate is a special case. The top ban entry at 99.4% (+7.1%) is effectively banned in almost every match, which means its win rate and pick rate are measured on a very small sample. Treat its other stats with caution.
  • Cross-check the lists. A Pokémon with a high pick rate but a falling win rate may be popular for reasons other than strength. A Pokémon with a high win rate but a low pick rate may be underrated or niche.
  • Use the full meta view. The page links to a full meta breakdown ("View full meta →") if you want more than the top five.

Steps to check the meta yourself

  1. Go to uniteapi.dev.
  2. Find the "Meta — This Patch" section on the page.
  3. Read the Win Rate, Ban Rate, and Pick Rate lists in order.
  4. Note the percentage and the +/- change next to each Pokémon.
  5. Open the full meta view for a longer list if the top five is not enough.

Common pitfalls

  • Do not read pick rate as strength. It reflects popularity; a frequently picked Pokémon can still have a mediocre win rate.
  • Do not ignore the delta. A 53% win rate that is dropping may be less reliable than a 52% win rate that is climbing.
  • Do not over-trust extreme ban rates. When a Pokémon is banned in nearly every match, its win and pick rates come from a small remaining sample.
  • Check that you are on the current patch. The section is labeled "This Patch," so confirm the patch label matches the version you are playing.
