How to Create an Image Poll and Share It by Link
Updated
You can create an image poll on Polltab without signing up: type your question, add choices as images (or image plus text), pick a voting-security level, then share the generated link and watch results update in real time. This works well when you want picture-based choices — for example, picking a logo, a design mockup, or a product option — and need votes from people who shouldn't have to create an account first.
The steps below follow Polltab's own creation flow. Where a setting is optional, the trade-off is explained so you can decide rather than guess.
What you need before starting
- The poll question, written out.
- Your image files ready to upload (one per choice, or one per choice alongside text).
- A decision on how strict voting should be — this affects who can vote and how easily.
- Nothing else: Polltab states no sign-up is needed to create a poll.
Step-by-step: build the image poll
1. Start a new poll
Open Polltab and choose to create a poll. The form is built around three fields: Question, Choices, and Voting Security, plus optional settings.
2. Enter the question
Type the question voters will see. Keep it specific enough that an image choice is unambiguous — "Which logo works best?" is clearer than "What do you think?"
3. Add choices as images
Polltab's choice field accepts text, image, or both. For an image poll:
- Add each choice and attach its image.
- Add text alongside the image if voters need a label (for example, "Option A — blue").
- Use the numbered choice slots (the form shows choices as 1, 2, 3…) to keep order clear.
Expected result: each choice displays its image (and text, if you added it) to voters.
4. Choose a voting security level
Polltab offers several modes, each with a different restriction:
| Mode | Restriction |
|---|---|
| Unlimited | No restrictions |
| Cookie | 1 vote per browser |
| IP specific | 1 vote per household/ISP |
| Requires Google login to vote | |
| Requires Facebook login to vote | |
| Requires Reddit login to vote |
Pick the lightest mode that fits your audience. Unlimited is fine for casual, low-stakes polls; cookie or IP limits reduce repeat voting without forcing a login; social-login modes are the strongest option when the result matters and you can accept that only logged-in users can vote.
5. Set optional controls
Polltab's optional settings include:
- Allow multiple choice — voters can pick more than one option.
- Prevent bot voting (enable captcha) — adds a captcha step.
- Hide results until poll ends — voters can't see tallies while voting is open.
6. Set start and end timing
- Start: immediately, or schedule for later.
- End: no end, a fixed duration, or a custom end.
If you hide results until the poll ends, set an end time — otherwise the results stay hidden indefinitely.
7. Create the poll and copy the link
Submit the form. Polltab generates a shareable link. Share it wherever your voters are.
8. Watch results in real time
Polltab streams vote tallies live as votes come in, so you can monitor the poll without refreshing or exporting anything.
Common problems and how to handle them
Duplicate votes. If the same person votes twice, your security mode is too loose for the use case. Move from Unlimited to Cookie or IP specific, or to a social-login mode if you need a hard guarantee. Note the trade-off: IP limits can block a whole household or ISP, and social login excludes anyone without that account.
Images not displaying. Check that each choice actually has an image attached and that the file uploaded successfully before you shared the link. Since choices can be text, image, or both, a choice with only text will show no picture.
Results visible before you want them. If you meant to hide tallies, confirm "Hide results until poll ends" was enabled and that an end time is set.
Voters can't vote. A social-login mode requires the matching account. If your audience doesn't have it, switch to a lighter mode.
Poll hasn't opened. If you scheduled a later start, the link won't accept votes until that time.
Quick reference
- Image choices: supported — text, image, or both.
- Signup to create: not required (per Polltab).
- Sharing: by link.
- Results: real-time.
- Vote integrity: captcha, IP guards, and account-only modes available.
- Timing: start immediately or schedule; end never, by duration, or custom.
For a fast picture-based poll, the minimum path is: question → image choices → a security mode → create → share the link. Add captcha, IP limits, or login-only voting only when the stakes justify the extra friction.
