How to Donate to Sugar Bowl National Ski Patrol

Sugar Bowl National Ski Patrol (SBSP) accepts donations through Venmo. The patrol is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization, so contributions support its service and safety mission at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort in Norden, California. If you want to give, the official website's Donate section points to Venmo as the listed donation method.

What the Donation Supports

SBSP has served Sugar Bowl Ski Resort since 1938. Its members — nearly 100 paid and volunteer patrollers — handle tasks such as setting up the mountain before it opens to the public, attending to injured guests, and talking with visitors on the slopes.

The terrain is demanding: more than 50% is rated advanced or expert, and the area is classified as a "Class A" avalanche area with average annual snowfall exceeding 450 inches. Donations go to an organization built around safety and service in that environment.

How to Donate

1. Go to sugarbowlskipatrol.com.
2. Open the Donate section.
3. Use the Venmo option listed there to send your contribution.

The site lists Venmo as the donation channel. No other payment methods appear in the available site information, so Venmo is the route to use unless the site is updated.

Why the 501(c)(3) Status Matters

Because SBSP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization, donations may be tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers. The site itself does not spell out receipt or documentation procedures, so if you need a record for tax purposes, confirm the details directly with the patrol before or after donating.

Other Ways to Get Involved

Donating is not the only way to support the patrol. SBSP also invites people to volunteer and describes a candidate process for those interested in joining. If you ski or snowboard and want to help others on the mountain, the Volunteer section explains how to learn more.
