How to Download a Theme or Add Your Own on getkirby-themes.com
Updated
getkirby-themes.com is a directory, not a checkout. To get a theme, open its listing and use the LIVE DEMO link to preview it, then follow that listing's BUY or FREE DOWNLOAD option — the transaction happens wherever the theme author hosts it, not on the directory itself. To add your own theme, use the ADD NEW THEME entry point linked in the site footer and on the theme list. Note that every theme still requires a separate Kirby license, regardless of whether the theme itself is free or paid.
Downloading a theme
Each listing on the site follows the same pattern: a theme name, the maker's credit, a Kirby version tag, and two actions — LIVE DEMO and either BUY (with a price) or FREE DOWNLOAD.
- Find the theme you want in the list or filter by Kirby version using the category tabs: All Themes (14), kirby 2 (8), kirby 3 (2), kirby 4 (2), kirby 5 (2).
- Click LIVE DEMO to see the theme running before you commit.
- Click BUY $xx or FREE DOWNLOAD to get the files. Paid themes hand off to the author's own purchase flow; free themes go straight to a download.
Current listings and their prices, as shown on the site:
| Theme | Maker | Kirby version | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tablo Arc | Jakub Pelák | kirby 5 | $43 |
| Tablook | Jakub Pelák | kirby 4 | $33 |
| Kreate | Kothemes | kirby 3 | $49 |
| Tablog | Jakub Pelák | kirby 4 | $11 |
| Zero One | Branko Matić | kirby 5 | $75 |
| Lemmon Portfolio | Jakub Pelák | kirby 3 | Free download |
| Frobox | Andy Kramer | kirby 2 | $25 |
| Koncrete | Joro Yordanov | kirby 2 | $29 |
| MIRON | Andy Kramer | kirby 2 | $15 |
| Kompact | Joro Yordanov | kirby 2 | Free download |
| Frisk | Leon Siekmann | kirby 2 | Free download |
| Kirby Project Hub Theme | Gunther Groenewege | kirby 2 | $19 |
| typewriter | Alessandro Bellini | kirby 2 | $12 |
| Vessel - Portfolio | Ian Cox | kirby 2 | $20 |
Because the directory only links out, the actual delivery method (download link, license key, repository access) depends on the individual author. If a BUY link leads somewhere unexpected, that's the author's storefront, not an error on the directory.
Adding your own theme
The site is a curated list, and every theme is credited to its maker, so submissions go through the listing process rather than an open upload.
- Use the ADD NEW THEME link, which appears in the footer and near the theme list.
- Provide your theme's details so it can be listed with the same fields as existing entries: name, maker credit, Kirby version tag, a live demo URL, and a buy or free-download destination.
- Once listed, your theme appears alongside the others with its own LIVE DEMO and BUY/FREE DOWNLOAD actions.
There is also an Add your theme? prompt next to the theme categories, which leads to the same submission path.
What the directory does and doesn't do
- It does collect Kirby themes in one filterable list, show a live demo for each, and point you to where to buy or download.
- It does not process payments for all themes itself — paid listings route to the author's own purchase flow.
- It does not include a Kirby license. The site states plainly that no matter which theme you purchase, you'll need a Kirby license separately.
That last point matters for budgeting: a $11 theme and a $75 theme both sit on top of the same required Kirby license, so compare themes on design and version compatibility rather than assuming the theme price is the whole cost.
