How to Download Free PDF Songbooks from The King's Court

Updated

The King's Court offers free PDF songbooks in lead sheet format for church worship use. To get them, open thekingscourt.com, use the site directory to reach the "Download Sheet Music (Pdf songbooks)" link, and download the files directly. The songbooks are tied to CCLI Song Select, so they suit pastors, music directors, and worship team leaders or members preparing music for services.

What you can download

The site describes its free downloads as Christian PDF songbooks in lead sheet format (sheet music). Lead sheets typically give the melody line, lyrics, and chord symbols, which is the practical format for worship teams rather than full piano arrangements.

The songbooks are affiliated with CCLI Song Select for use in church worship services. The King's Court also states it has a licensing agreement with CCLI for collecting royalties on usage, and the site includes a CCLI reports and lyrics download section.

Step-by-step download

  1. Go to thekingscourt.com.
  2. Find the site directory — the page lists browse links such as Songwriters, Photos, Bio's, Published & Unpublished Works, and the download products.
  3. Select Download Sheet Music (Pdf songbooks).
  4. Choose the songbook you need and save the PDF.

Expected result: a lead sheet PDF you can print or share with your worship team.

Before you use the music in a service

Free download and permission to perform or reproduce are separate matters. The site says it is in a licensing agreement with CCLI for royalty collection, so confirm that your church's CCLI license covers the specific songs before projecting lyrics, printing copies, or recording a service. The site also points to CCLI reports and a lyrics download area, which is where usage reporting fits in.

The catalog centers on songwriter Will Goldstein, with Jeanne Brickman collaborating on musicals drawn from the Old and New Testaments, including The King's Highway. If a song you want is not in the free PDFs, check the streaming and purchase links or the print-on-demand songbooks.

Common snags

  • Broken or moved links. The site has been online since 2000 and its directory structure is plain link lists, so if a download link fails, return to the directory and try the sheet music entry again rather than guessing a URL.
  • Assuming free means unrestricted. The PDFs are free to download, but service use still depends on your CCLI coverage.
  • Wrong format expectations. These are lead sheets, not full scores; plan for chord-based accompaniment.
