How to Enter a Horse for Sale with Inglis

Updated

Inglis accepts entries through two main channels: physical auctions at its Riverside (Sydney) and Oaklands (Melbourne) complexes, and Inglis Digital online sales. To start, use the Online Sale Entry tool or download a Sales Entry Form from inglis.com.au, then submit it ahead of the relevant sale's entry deadline. Before you commit, confirm the sale type and timing on the Sales Calendar, and read the Conditions of Sale and Code of Conduct that govern every entry.

Choose your sales channel first

The entry route depends on which kind of sale suits your horse.

Channel Where it appears on the site Typical use
Physical auction Auctions, Sales Calendar, Sales Entry Forms Yearlings, weanlings, broodmares and racehorses offered at Riverside or Oaklands
Inglis Digital Inglis Online / Online Sale Entry Online-only sales, including the monthly Inglis Digital sales

The site lists both InglisDigitalAUS and InglisDigitalUSA, so online entries are not limited to the Australian market. If you are unsure which channel fits your horse, the Contact Us page and the Directors & Staff listing give you the people to ask before you lodge anything.

Steps to lodge an entry

  1. Check the Sales Calendar. Find the sale you are targeting and note its entry deadline. Deadlines sit ahead of the sale date, not on it.
  2. Pick your entry method. Use Online Sale Entry if you want to submit and manage the entry through your account, or download a Sales Entry Form if you prefer to complete and return a form.
  3. Create or log in to your account. The site has Login and Register links for online sales entry and online bidding. You need an account to use the online entry tool.
  4. Complete the entry details. The form asks for the horse's identity and the sale you are entering. For physical sales, the site also references a Veterinary Reports section and an X-Ray Repository, which are part of the pre-sale process for many lots.
  5. Read the Conditions of Sale and Code of Conduct. These set out the terms you agree to when you enter, including your obligations as a vendor. They are linked from the main navigation.
  6. Submit before the deadline and confirm. After submitting, check that the entry appears against the correct sale. If anything is unclear, contact Inglis directly using the details on the Contact Us page.

What to check before you enter

  • Sale eligibility and timing. Not every horse fits every sale. The Sales Calendar and the individual sale pages are the place to confirm what a given auction accepts.
  • Fees and payment. The site provides a Pay Online page and Eftsure Information, which indicates Inglis handles payments through its own online system. Entry fees and commission are not published in the material available here, so confirm the current charges with Inglis before entering.
  • Veterinary and X-ray requirements. Physical sales commonly require veterinary reports and X-rays lodged to the repository. Check the requirements for your specific sale rather than assuming.
  • Ownership and syndication questions. The site covers Racehorse Ownership and Syndications, which is useful if your horse is owned by a group rather than a single vendor.

Where to get help

Inglis publishes Contact Details, a Directors & Staff directory, and a Site Map on inglis.com.au. For entry-specific questions, the staff directory is the most direct route — entries are handled by people, and the site does not provide an automated answer for every scenario. If you are entering a horse for the first time, ask about the sale's entry deadline, veterinary requirements and the current fee schedule in the same enquiry.
