How to Find a Doctor or Location on Nemours Children's Health
Updated
Nemours Children's Health provides two separate search tools on its homepage: Find a Doctor and Find a Location. Use Find a Doctor when you already know the specialty or condition your child needs; use Find a Location when proximity or the type of care setting (specialty care, urgent care, primary care) matters more. Both tools are accessible directly from the top of nemours.org.
Searching for a Doctor
Start with the Find a Doctor link at the top of the page. The site also surfaces Search Services & Conditions as a companion tool, which is useful when you know the problem but not which specialist treats it.
A practical sequence:
- Search by service or condition first (for example, orthopedics, cancer, cardiology, diabetes, or neurology — all listed as common searches on the homepage).
- From the results, move to Find a Doctor to see clinicians tied to that specialty.
- Check the location attached to each doctor, since Nemours operates across Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
If you are unsure which specialty applies, the See All Services & Specialties and See All Conditions & Treatments links give the full list rather than forcing you to guess a search term.
Finding a Location
Find a Location is the better entry point when geography or urgency drives the decision. Nemours organizes care into several settings, and the right one depends on how sick your child is and whether you need an appointment:
| Care type | When to use it | Appointment needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Specialty Care | Complex or ongoing conditions needing a specialist | Yes |
| Primary Care | Routine, ongoing pediatric care near home | Yes |
| Urgent Care | Non-emergency illness or injury | No — walk in |
| Urgent Care Video Visits | Minor illness or injury, online | No — on-demand |
Urgent Care locations are open 365 days a year without an appointment. Primary Care sites are open evenings and Saturdays in some areas, so confirm hours for the specific location you choose rather than assuming.
The homepage also lists Featured Locations, which highlight major campuses. These are useful for specialty referrals but are not the full list — run a location search for your own area instead of relying on the featured set.
Managing Care After You Choose
Once you have a doctor or location, Nemours uses Nemours Children's MyChart (formerly the Nemours app) for scheduling, records, and communication. The homepage links a Quick Start Guide alongside Log In/Sign Up, so new families can set up access before a first visit.
Billing is handled separately through Online Bill Pay, linked from the homepage.
Common Stumbling Points
- Searching a doctor before a specialty. If you do not know the specialty, start with Services & Conditions, then move to Find a Doctor.
- Assuming Featured Locations are the only options. They are highlights, not the complete network.
- Showing up without checking hours. Only Urgent Care is guaranteed walk-in, 365 days a year; Primary Care hours vary by site.
- Looking for emergency care here. The site describes urgent care as being for non-emergency pediatric care. For a true emergency, use emergency services, not this search.
For a first visit, the fastest path is: search the condition, pick the specialty, then filter doctors by the location nearest you.
