How to Import a Recipe into Noods.io

Updated

You can import a recipe into Noods.io in two ways: paste a recipe link from any website, or upload a photo, screenshot, PDF, or file. Noods then turns it into a clean recipe and scales the ingredients for you. This works on the free Miso Soup plan, which includes unlimited recipes and Magic Import, and no credit card is required.

Import from a recipe link

  1. Open Noods.io on the web (or in the iPhone, iPad, or Android app).
  2. Start a new import and paste the URL of the recipe you want.
  3. Confirm the import. Noods pulls the recipe from the page and converts it into a clean, structured recipe in your cookbook.

The expected result is a readable recipe with ingredients and steps you can cook from directly, rather than a cluttered web page.

Import from a photo, screenshot, PDF, or file

  1. Choose the import option for images or files.
  2. Upload the cookbook page photo, screenshot, PDF, or file you have.
  3. Let Noods process it into a clean recipe.

This is the path to use when the recipe isn't on a website — for example, a photo of a cookbook page or a saved PDF.

Add or edit a recipe manually

If you'd rather not import, or you want to fix something after importing, use the built-in recipe editor. It's flexible enough to add your own recipes from scratch or adjust an imported one.

What you get after importing

  • A clean recipe you can cook from on the web, iPhone, iPad, and Android
  • Ingredients that scale up or down instantly, so you don't do kitchen math
  • Shareable recipe links to send recipes to friends, family, or yourself

Plans and limits

Plan Price What's included
Miso Soup Free Unlimited recipes, Magic Import from links/photos/PDFs, shareable recipe links
Ramen $2.99/month Everything in Miso Soup, plus support for Noods development

Collaborative cookbooks and shopping list creation are listed as coming soon on both plans. The free plan is described as free forever with no credit card required.

Common snags

  • If a link import doesn't produce a clean recipe, try uploading a screenshot or PDF of the recipe instead.
  • If an imported recipe needs tweaks, open it in the recipe editor rather than re-importing.
  • To cook for a crowd, scale the ingredients in the recipe instead of recalculating by hand.
