How to Join AAPA and Access Member Resources on aapa.org

Updated

You can join AAPA through the Join link on aapa.org, which leads to the membership purchase page at connect.aapa.org/membership/purchase. Once you have an account, member resources are reached through Member Central and the Login link in the site navigation. The site does not publish membership pricing on the pages reviewed here, so check the purchase page for current rates and categories before committing.

Joining AAPA

  1. Go to aapa.org.
  2. Select Join in the top navigation. This opens AAPA's membership purchase flow at connect.aapa.org/membership/purchase.
  3. Complete the purchase flow to create or attach your membership.

Expected result: an active membership tied to your AAPA account, which unlocks the member-only areas described below.

Common snags:

  • The site lists scheduled maintenance (for example, Sunday, October 26, 12:00–5:00 a.m. Eastern Time) during which login, purchases, and some information access may be affected. If the Join flow stalls, try outside that window.
  • The purchase page is the only pricing source referenced in the site materials. Don't assume a rate from third-party summaries.

Accessing Member Resources

After joining, use Login in the navigation, then go to Member Central for your account and member-facing tools. The navigation also exposes these member-relevant areas:

Area What it covers
AAPA Community Member community and discussion
Constituent Organizations State chapters, federal service chapters, specialty organizations, caucuses, and special interest groups
Career Central Job search and career tools
Education / CME Conference and on-demand CME, CME calendar
Advocacy Central Advocacy updates and resources
News Central Profession news
Research Salary report, cost-of-living calculator, employment contract negotiation guidance, job search help

For students

The Student Academy section includes the Student Academy Board of Directors, student board committees, student society resources, the Assembly of Representatives student delegation, and the National Medical Challenge Bowl. Students should join through the same Join flow and then navigate to Student Academy for these resources.

For career and practice support

Under Research, AAPA lists a Salary Report, a Calculate Your Cost of Living tool, Negotiate Your Employment Contract guidance, and Ignite Your Job Search. These are practical starting points if your reason for joining is career development rather than community.

What to Check Before Joining

  • Membership category and dues: confirm on the purchase page; the reviewed site content does not state prices.
  • What your category includes: the navigation shows the breadth of member areas (community, constituent organizations, CME, career tools), but specific entitlements by membership type are not detailed in the reviewed content.
  • Login requirements: member areas require an account; the site does not indicate that any of these areas are open without login.

If your goal is simply to read public information such as governance documents, endorsed clinical guidelines, or news, much of that is reachable without joining. Join when you need the community, constituent organization participation, CME access, or career tools tied to membership.
