How to Navigate adafruit.com: Products, Learning Content, and Your Account
Updated
Adafruit's site is organized around a single top navigation bar: Shop, Learn, Blog, Forums, IO, LIVE!, AdaBox, and Sign In, with search and the shopping cart also in the header. To find a product, open Shop → Shop Categories (or jump straight to New/Featured Products); to learn, use Learn; to manage orders or wishlists, use Sign In. The sections below map each entry point to what it actually contains, based on the site's current navigation and homepage listings.
Top Navigation at a Glance
| Entry | What it leads to | Use it when you want to… |
|---|---|---|
| Shop | Full category tree plus New Products, Featured Products, Gift Ideas, Clearance Sale | Browse or buy hardware |
| Learn | Tutorials and project guides | Follow a build or learn a board |
| Blog | "Latest News from the Adafruit Blog" and announcements | Catch product launches and events |
| Forums | Community discussion | Ask or search for help from other users |
| IO | Adafruit IO, the cloud/data service (the blog notes WipperSnapper releases there) | Connect projects to the internet |
| LIVE! | Live streams/shows | Watch demos and builds |
| AdaBox | Adafruit's subscription box | See the recurring kit offering |
| Sign In / Create Account | Account access | Track orders, wishlists, account details |
Search sits in the header next to the cart, so a part number or product name can be typed directly rather than clicking through categories.
Finding Products
The Products menu opens a Shop Categories view listing the full range: Arduino, CircuitPython, Circuit Playground, Feather, Raspberry Pi, RP2040/Pico, STEMMA/STEMMA QT, LCDs & Displays, sensors, LEDs/Neopixels, batteries, cables, breakout boards, development boards, kits & projects, tools, wearables, wireless, robotics & CNC, mechanical keyboards, books, gift certificates, and a Clearance Sale.
Two shortcuts skip the category tree:
- New Products — the homepage currently lists, for example, the Adafruit CP2105 Friend USB-to-Dual-UART converter at $6.95, the TMF8806 time-of-flight sensor (10 mm–5 m) at $12.50, the TMF8801 (20 mm–2.5 m) at $9.95, and the GP8403 I2C DAC breakout at $7.50.
- Featured Products — currently the BMP581 temperature/pressure sensor ($9.95), STSPIN220 stepper driver ($6.50), TPS61169 LED boost converter ($4.50), and Sparkle Motion Stick + Enclosure Kit ($19.95).
Each listing has an Add to Cart button, and the cart counter in the header shows how many items you've added. Note the site's own shipping notice: USPS orders are shipping with a slight delay due to high demand, so factor that in if timing matters.
Learning, Community, and Account
- Learn is the entry point for tutorials and project documentation — the place to start if you've bought a board and need wiring and code guidance.
- Blog carries the "Latest News from the Adafruit Blog," including seasonal projects (the current #ElectronicHalloween series) and software announcements such as the Adafruit IO WipperSnapper 1.0.0 Beta 132 release.
- Forums is where community troubleshooting happens; search before posting, since common board questions are usually already answered.
- Sign In | Create Account in the header is required for account features; the cart works from the header whether or not you're signed in.
Practical Tips
- Start with search for a specific part (e.g., "TMF8806") — faster than walking the category tree.
- Check New Products first if you're looking for the latest sensors or breakouts; the homepage rotates these regularly.
- Watch for promo codes — the homepage currently displays a Halloween Guide discount code applied at checkout, so read the banner before paying.
- Use Learn before buying when a project's feasibility depends on available documentation; tutorial coverage is a reasonable signal of how well-supported a board is.
If you tell me which board or project you're working on, I can point to the specific category and learning path to start from.
