How to Play Amountle and How Scoring Works
Updated
Amountle is a free daily visual estimation game: you watch objects pour into a container, guess how many are inside, and your five-round score is compared against other players. You can start playing immediately in a browser — no account is required to play, though signing in saves your scores, streak, and stats across devices. The core loop is simple, but the scoring, streak, and archive systems are what keep it interesting day to day.
How a round works
Each daily puzzle follows the same three-step rhythm:
- Watch the pour. Objects fall into a jar or container. There's no timer pressure described on the site — the emphasis is on watching carefully.
- Guess the count. Enter your estimate of how many objects are inside.
- See your result. Your guess is compared to the actual count, and the game tracks your accuracy.
The site frames the challenge as "how many are inside?" — the whole skill is visual estimation, not reflexes or trivia.
The five-round structure
A daily Amountle session is built around five rounds. Your score across those rounds becomes your result for the day, and the game tracks:
- Accuracy — how close your guesses land overall
- Best — your best result
- Average — your running average across rounds
- Daily rank — where you place on today's leaderboard
Scoring and accuracy
Amountle doesn't publish a detailed points formula on the page, but the visible mechanics tell you what matters:
| Stat | What it reflects |
|---|---|
| Round result | Your estimate vs. the actual count |
| Accuracy | How close your guesses are across rounds |
| Best | Your single best performance |
| Average | Your typical performance over saved rounds |
| Daily rank | Your position on today's leaderboard |
The key takeaway: closeness matters, not speed. There's no indication that faster guessing earns more. The "guessing patterns" feature (available after 10 saved rounds) shows whether you tend to guess high or low — useful if you want to correct a consistent bias.
Streaks and missed days
Amountle tracks a day streak — consecutive days you've played the Daily. The site shows your current streak, your best streak, and a 28-day view.
If you miss a day, you have options:
- Play yesterday's puzzle — the site offers a "missed yesterday?" replay link.
- Repair your streak — you can restore a broken streak by playing the missed day.
- Streak freeze ($0.99) — adds one freeze that automatically covers a missed Daily. The site notes checkout "opens soon," so this may not be purchasable yet at the time of writing.
Two streak freezes are also listed as a perk in the Amountle+ tier.
Leaderboard and personal records
- Today's leaderboard shows the day's scores, ranked 1, 2, 3, and onward.
- Your player panel holds your name, scores, best, average, and daily rank. Scores appear here once you've played.
- Stats and history are available through your account, including achievements and a shelf of milestones.
You can set a display name (up to 20 characters) without a password — the site describes this as a "free account · no password." Past scores keep the name you had when you played them.
More ways to play
Beyond the standard Daily, Amountle lists several variants:
- Over / Under — guess whether the count is above or below a threshold
- Fill — pour to a target number
- Video Fill — a video-based version
- Survival — play until you miss
- Practice — no timer
- Full archive — replay past puzzles (complete archive is an Amountle+ perk)
- Duel — play, then send a challenge to a friend
There's also a set of sibling daily games linked from the page: Halfsies, Flipsies, Stackdle, Puttsies, and Weighsies.
Free vs. paid
The Daily game is free, and the site states plainly that purchases never affect scores or ranks — no ads or pay-to-win. Paid options:
- Amountle+ — $9.99, one purchase, yours forever. Includes the complete archive, guessing patterns, a leaderboard name with public play count, and two streak freezes.
- Founding Player — $9.99 through September 30, then $12.99. Keeps the Amountle mark beside your name.
- Streak freeze — $0.99 for one automatic cover of a missed Daily.
- Ko-fi tip — optional support with no game perks.
Both the Amountle+ and streak freeze checkouts are marked "opens soon," so availability may lag the listing.
Getting started
- Open amountle.dev in a browser.
- Play today's puzzle — watch the pour, enter your estimate, repeat for five rounds.
- Optionally set a display name so your scores appear on the leaderboard.
- Sign in if you want your streak and stats to follow you across devices.
- Check the leaderboard and your player panel to see where you stand.
If you miss a day, use the replay link or a streak freeze rather than losing the streak outright.
