How to Play the "Where Is This Dish From?" Game

Updated

To play, open the site, click Start!, read the question about a dish's origin, and pick one of the four answer options. After you answer, the page shows an explanation along with the answer, and you use Next to move to the following question. The game runs entirely in the browser with no account or setup described on the page.

What the Page Gives You

The site, titled "Where is this dish from?", presents itself as a guessing game: "Can you guess where each food dish is from?" Its visible elements are:

  • A welcome line and a Start! button
  • A question area
  • An explanation section
  • Four answer choices (Answer 1 through Answer 4)
  • A Next button
  • A "back to game!" link
  • "about" and "support us" links
  • A copyright line reading "© English Sandwich 2021"

That is the full set of controls the page exposes, so the flow below stays within them.

Step by Step

1. Start the game

Open englishsandwich.github.io and click Start! below the welcome text. Expected result: the first question appears with its four answer options.

2. Read the question and choose

Each round asks where a particular dish comes from. Read the question, then click the answer you believe is correct among Answer 1 to Answer 4.

Expected result: the page reveals an explanation and the answer. The explanation is the part worth reading — it tells you why the dish is associated with that place, which is the actual learning value of the game.

3. Move to the next question

Click Next to load the following dish. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you reach the end of the quiz.

4. Return or exit

Use the back to game! link to return to the game view. The about link gives background on the site, and support us is the site's own donation/support path.

Checking Your Progress

The page does not describe a score counter, timer, or saved progress, so treat each explanation as your feedback: if the explanation matches the answer you picked, you were right. Because nothing indicates saved state, expect to start over if you reload or close the tab.

Common Snags

  • Nothing happens after clicking Start! The game depends on page scripts; if your browser blocks them or the page loads incompletely, the question may not appear. Reload the page and try again.
  • You want to change an answer. The flow is answer → explanation → Next, so there is no described way to revise a choice; continue with Next instead of hunting for an edit option.
  • You lose your place. With no visible progress saving, note which dish you were on if you need to step away.

Who It Suits

This is a light, self-paced quiz for anyone who wants to test food-origin knowledge and pick up the reasoning behind each answer — useful as a warm-up in a language or culture lesson, or a few minutes of casual practice. It is not a scored exam or a study tracker; if you need records of results, you would have to note them yourself.
