How to Play Wizard Arena Online
Updated
Wizard Arena Online is a free, browser-based multiplayer survivors-style game: you pick a wizard, move with WASD or the mouse, and your spells cast automatically while you dodge hordes and stack powerups to climb the leaderboard. The only real skill input is movement and positioning, so the game is easy to start but rewards learning how each wizard's attack behaves.
Getting Into a Run
- Open wizardarenaonline.com in a browser.
- Choose a wizard from the roster. Each one has a different attack style and durability, shown in the selection screen.
- Enter a name in the name field.
- Start the run with the "Enter Wizard Arena" button. There is also a "Play with Friends" option and a "Leaderboard" view on the same screen.
No download or account setup is described on the page, so treat the run as a quick pick-up session rather than a persistent profile.
Controls and Combat
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| WASD keys | Move your wizard |
| Mouse | Move your wizard (alternative to WASD) |
| Spells | Cast automatically — no attack button |
Because attacks fire on their own, your decisions are about where to stand, when to retreat, and which powerups to grab. Standing still to line up damage usually loses to constant movement.
Choosing a Wizard
The roster pairs an attack type with a body type, which tells you how to play each one:
- Azuriel — Magic Orb, balanced. A safe first pick.
- Pyrion — Fireball, fragile but high damage. Play at range and avoid contact.
- Scorch — Fireball, tanky. Trades speed for survivability.
- Voltaric — Spark, fast multi-hit. Good for clearing spread-out groups.
- Mossback — Rock, heavy hit. Slower attacks that reward timing.
- Briarwick — Leaf, balanced.
- Umbra — Magic Orb, agile.
- Pip — Spark, tiny and fast. Hard to hit, low margin for error.
- Croakwell — Leaf, forest spirit.
- Eldwin — Arcane, wise and tanky.
- Hootley — Shadow, agile homing. Homing attacks reduce the need for precise aim.
- Whiskerwhip — Leaf, fast scatter. Good against swarms.
If you are new, start with a balanced or tanky wizard (Azuriel, Scorch, Briarwick, Eldwin) so a single mistake does not end the run. Switch to fragile high-damage picks like Pyrion once dodging feels natural.
Surviving and Stacking Powerups
The loop is: move, let spells clear enemies, collect powerups, repeat. Powerups stack during a run, so the goal is to keep the stack growing without taking unnecessary hits. Practical habits:
- Keep circling rather than backing into a corner; hordes close in from multiple sides.
- Pick up powerups even when the screen looks clear — the stack is what carries you into later waves.
- Use a wizard's range to your advantage: fragile casters should stay at the edge of the horde, tanks can push through.
Checking Progress
The leaderboard is reachable from the start screen, so you can compare runs before and after playing. Use it to see what scores are achievable and whether your build-and-dodge approach is keeping pace.
Common Stumbles
- Expecting manual attacks. There is no fire button; if nothing seems to happen, you are probably standing still or out of range rather than failing to cast.
- Picking a fragile wizard first. High damage does not help if you cannot dodge yet.
- Ignoring powerups mid-fight. Stacking them is the main way a run gets stronger.
- Playing solo when friends are available. The "Play with Friends" entry point is on the same screen if you want company.
