How to Register Your Child for an MSI Soccer Season
Updated
Registration happens on msisoccer.org, and the first choice you make is whether your child is a New Player or a Returning Player — the site presents these as two separate entry points. From there you register into a specific program (for example Fall Rec Soccer 2 or Kindergarten), and you can only complete a registration for a program that is currently listed as open. MSI's registration resources run through the PlayMetrics platform, so expect to set up or sign in to a PlayMetrics account as part of the process.
Before you start
- Know which program you're registering for. MSI organizes play into Recreation, Classic League, and Travel, plus programs such as Camps & Clinics, MINI-Greens (Pre-K), Kindergarten, and MSI Pro. Registration is handled per program, not as one blanket sign-up.
- Check that the program is open. The homepage carries a "Now Open For Registration" notice, and individual program pages (for example Fall Rec Soccer 2 and Kindergarten) have their own "Learn More" and registration details. If a program isn't marked open, you can't register for it yet.
- Have your PlayMetrics account ready. MSI lists PlayMetrics Resources under its Resources section, which is where registration and account management are handled.
- Note the age/grade framing. Recreation is described as casual play for 1st–12th grade, and Kindergarten and MINI-Greens (Pre-K) are separate offerings for younger children.
Step-by-step registration
- Go to msisoccer.org.
- Choose the entry point that matches your situation:
- New Player — if your child has not played with MSI before.
- Returning Player — if your child has an existing MSI/PlayMetrics record.
- Select the program you want (for example Fall Rec Soccer 2, Kindergarten, or a Classic/Travel program if that's your target).
- Open that program's registration details page and follow the link into the registration flow.
- Complete the registration in PlayMetrics, creating an account if you're new or signing in if you already have one.
- Confirm you receive a registration confirmation for the specific program — that's your verification that the sign-up went through.
Expected result: your child is registered in the chosen program for that season, with the record held in PlayMetrics.
Choosing the right program first
Because registration is per program, picking the wrong one is the most common way to get stuck. The table below maps the main options as MSI describes them.
| Program | Who it's for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Recreation | Casual play, 1st–12th grade | Fall Rec Soccer 2 is a specific rec offering |
| Kindergarten | Young beginners | Listed with open spots for Tuesdays & Sunday Game Day |
| MINI-Greens (Pre-K) | Pre-K children | Fall session |
| Classic League | Players wanting a higher level than rec | Has its own registration details and player assessments |
| Travel | Competitive players | Separate tryout process and schedules |
| Camps & Clinics | Seasonal/skill sessions | Includes Spring Break Camp and Winter 2025/26 |
If your child is new to soccer and you just want them playing, Recreation or Kindergarten is the natural starting point. Classic and Travel involve assessments or tryouts, so they aren't a simple "register and you're in" path.
Common snags
- The program isn't open yet. Registration is gated by the "Now Open For Registration" status. If your program isn't listed as open, wait for it to open rather than trying to force a sign-up.
- You picked the wrong New/Returning entry. Returning players should use the Returning Player path so their existing record is matched; new families use New Player.
- You're looking for one universal form. There isn't one — you register into a specific program, so start from that program's page.
- Account issues. Since registration runs through PlayMetrics, problems with your PlayMetrics account block registration; the PlayMetrics Resources section is the place to start.
Where to get help
MSI's site includes Recreation FAQs, Classic League FAQs, Parent Resources, Player Forms, and a New Player Info page. For practice cancellations there's a Rainout Line, which the site notes is for practices only. The site is also available in Spanish (español) via the language toggle.
