How to Scan and Use AutoBuild QR Codes in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Updated

totk.wism.fr hosts a community library of 1,173 AutoBuild QR codes for Tears of the Kingdom — vehicles, flying machines, and weapons shared by other players. To use one, open a build's page, scan its QR code with a phone, and upload the resulting image to your Switch so the build appears in your AutoBuild favorites. This works for any build in the library, but you still need the Zonai parts and enough Zonai Charge to actually assemble it in game.

What the site gives you

The homepage lists builds in a few sections:

  • Latest AutoBuild QR — the newest uploads, each with a timestamp, vote count, and a short description of what the build does.
  • Trending this week — the most-viewed builds, with view counts and upvotes.
  • Latest Itembox and Latest comments — community submissions and discussion.
  • Guides — walkthroughs for specific tricks, such as the glitch for the "msgnotfound" prologue Master Sword with infinite durability.

Each entry carries tags like #flying, #weapon, #vehicle, or #combat, plus a parts list. For example, the "Omnicycle Phantom Mk3-C2X8" is described as 20 parts: 3 bigger fans, 1 steering stick, 6 construct heads, 8 beam emitters, and 2 cannons. That parts list is what you'll need in your inventory before the build is usable.

Scanning a build's QR code

  1. Open the build's page on totk.wism.fr. The QR code is on that page, alongside the title, tags, and parts list.
  2. Scan the QR code with your phone. Use your camera app or a QR reader. The scan should produce an image file on your phone — this is the build data, not a link to a web page.
  3. Get the image onto your Switch. The standard route is to transfer it to the console's album, either by posting it from your phone to a service the Switch can access, or by copying it to a microSD card. The site's own guide for the Master Sword glitch describes the same flow: "Upload the qr to your switch and pre..." — the exact transfer method depends on what your phone and console setup supports.
  4. Load it in game. Once the image is in your Switch album, open AutoBuild in Tears of the Kingdom and select the build from your favorites. The game reads the stored build data and offers to reconstruct it.

The expected result: the build appears in your AutoBuild history and can be rebuilt anywhere you have the parts and charge.

Before you scan: check the parts list

A scanned build is only a blueprint. AutoBuild will not create parts you don't have. If a build calls for 10 beam emitters and 2 cannons, you need those in your inventory (or already fused to a weapon/vehicle) before the reconstruction will complete.

Two things to verify on the build's page before you commit:

  • Part count and types — match the list against what you've collected. Builds in the library run up to 20 parts.
  • Zonai Charge — AutoBuild consumes charge per part. Larger builds cost more.

Troubleshooting

The scan produces nothing or an error. Try a different QR reader app, and make sure the code is fully in frame and not cropped. Screen brightness on the device showing the code matters if you're scanning from a monitor.

The image transfers but AutoBuild doesn't recognize it. The build data has to arrive as an unmodified image. Re-compressing, resizing, or screenshotting the QR instead of saving the original file can break it.

The build loads but won't assemble. This is almost always a missing part or insufficient Zonai Charge. Check the parts list on the build page against your inventory.

The build assembles but behaves differently than described. Community builds are shared as-is. A description like "some enemies can't see you" or "pretty durable" reflects the uploader's experience, not a guaranteed stat. Test it yourself before relying on it in a fight.

Choosing a build

Use the tags to filter by purpose: #flying for air travel, #vehicle or #transport for ground movement, #weapon or #combat for offense, #fun for novelty. The vote and view counts on each entry give a rough sense of what other players found useful — the "Perfect Hoverbike" sits at 112 views and 46 upvotes this week, while newer uploads may have only a handful of votes.

If you're new to AutoBuild sharing, start with a low-part-count build so you can confirm the scan-and-load flow works before hunting down 20 rare components.
