How to Search for Cars by Make, Model, or Body Type on Autoweb
Updated
Autoweb gives you three main ways to narrow down vehicles: a make/model search box, a body-type browser, and a brand browser. If you already know the exact car you want, use the Select Make / Select Model search. If you're still deciding, start with Explore by Type or Explore Brands. To find used cars near you, use the Zip Code search under Used Cars Near You.
Search by Make and Model
This is the most direct path when you know what you're looking for.
- Find the search area on the homepage (it sits under the "Drive your dreams" heading).
- Open the Select Make dropdown and choose a brand — for example, Toyota, BMW, or Ford.
- Open the Select Model dropdown and choose a model. The model list depends on the make you picked.
- Select Search to see matching results.
What to expect: The results reflect the make and model you selected. If you leave the model blank, you'll get a broader set of results for that brand.
Common snag: The model dropdown won't populate until a make is chosen, so pick the make first.
Browse by Body Type
Use this when you know the shape of car you want but not the brand.
- Go to the Explore by Type section.
- Pick a body type from the list: Sedan, SUV, Coupe, Hatchback, Truck, Convertible, Minivan, Wagon, or Van.
- Select Show All Types if you want to see the full set of categories.
Each body type links to articles, reviews, and features for that category, so this route is better for research than for pulling up a specific listing.
Browse by Brand
Use this when you have a brand in mind but want to see everything it offers.
- Go to the Explore Brands section.
- Choose a make from the list — Acura, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, FIAT, Ford, Genesis, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, INFINITI, Jaguar, Jeep, Karma, Kia, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Lucid, Maserati, Maybach, Mazda, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Panoz, Polestar, Porsche, Ram, Rivian, Rolls-Royce, smart, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, or Volvo.
- Select Show All Brands to expand the full list.
Like the body-type browser, brand pages lead to articles, reviews, and features rather than a single filtered inventory view.
Find Used Cars Near You by Zip Code
To search local inventory:
- Go to the Used Cars Near You section.
- Select a Make, Model, and Year (or use Advance Search for more filters).
- Enter your Zip Code.
- Select Search.
What to expect: Results are tied to the Zip Code you enter, so nearby listings surface first. Changing the Zip Code changes the results.
Which Method Should You Use?
| Your situation | Best entry point |
|---|---|
| You know the exact make and model | Select Make / Select Model search |
| You know the body style, not the brand | Explore by Type |
| You want to compare everything a brand offers | Explore Brands |
| You want to buy a used car locally | Used Cars Near You + Zip Code |
Beyond Search: Research Before You Buy
Autoweb's Research Center collects buying-oriented articles, including competitor roundups (such as "10 Acura MDX Competitors to Consider" and "10 Kia Telluride Competitors to Consider"), list-style guides (cheap reliable cars, longest-lasting cars, best sports cars for teens), and comparison and road-test reviews. The site also notes it has connected consumers and dealers since 1995 and provides performance-based marketing solutions alongside consumer research tools.
If you're using reviews to decide, read them with a specific question in mind — for example, how a model compares to its closest rival — rather than reading top to bottom. The comparison articles on the site are built around exactly that kind of side-by-side framing.
