How to Sign Up for a Game at the Kona Bridge Club

Updated

To sign up for a game, open the sign-up form for the specific session you want (for example, the Wednesday Game, Saturday Game, or Unit Championship Game) on konabridge.org, fill in your name, your partner's name, your email, and your phone number, then submit. If you don't have a partner, type "Needs Partner" plus your phone or email in the partner field so other players can contact you. You can edit or cancel your registration afterward. The club asks players to sign up in advance and arrive by 12:45 for the 1:00pm open games.

Before You Start

  • Pick the right game. The club lists separate sign-up forms for each session, such as the Wednesday Game, Saturday Game, and Unit Championship Game. Use the form that matches the date you want.
  • Check the date. During the summer, a unit game may replace the normal Saturday game, and Unit Games can fall on a Saturday or Sunday depending on the season, so confirm the date before signing up.
  • Plan your arrival. Open games run Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1:00pm. Sign up in advance and arrive by 12:45. On Wednesdays, do not enter the school grounds before 12:30.

Step-by-Step Sign-Up

  1. Open the form for your game. Go to the session you want (Wednesday, Saturday, or Unit Championship) and select Sign Up.
  2. Enter your name in the "Your Name" field. This is required.
  3. Enter your partner's name in the partner field. This is also required.
  4. Add your email. The form requires a valid email address.
  5. Add your phone number. This field is required.
  6. Leave the hidden field blank. If you see an extra field asking you to leave it blank, do so; it is there to catch automated submissions.
  7. Submit. Your registration is recorded, and the confirmed pairings appear on the page (for example, "8 Confirmed" for a recent Wednesday game).

If You Need a Partner

Enter your name in the partner slot followed by "Needs Partner" and a way to reach you, for example:

John Doe & Needs Partner 808-555-1212

This lets other players contact you directly if they can play with you. The site also offers a "Need A Partner?" option alongside the sign-up form.

Changing or Canceling

After submitting, use Edit/Cancel My Registration to update your details or withdraw. This is useful if your partner changes or your plans shift.

Common Snags

  • Form won't submit: Check that name, partner, email, and phone are all filled in; each is required.
  • No partner yet: Don't leave the partner field empty. Use the "Needs Partner" format so others can reach you.
  • Wrong session: Confirm you used the form for the correct date, especially around summer unit games and holiday Unit Championships.

The club is an ACBL-sanctioned nonprofit serving the duplicate bridge community on the Big Island of Hawaii, and its upcoming tournament list (including a 2027 Big Island Sectional) is posted on the same site if you want to plan further ahead.
