How to Subscribe to ESA/Hubble News and Science Newsletters
Updated
ESA/Hubble offers two separate email subscriptions: Hubble News for general updates about the Hubble Space Telescope, and the ESA/Hubble/Webb Science Newsletter for science-oriented announcements covering both Hubble and the James Webb Space Telescope. You can subscribe to either or both from the ESA/Hubble website (esahubble.org) using the "Subscribe" links, and both are free email sign-ups — no account or payment is involved.
The two subscription options
| Subscription | Best for | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Subscribe to Hubble News | General public, educators, casual followers | Hubble news and announcements |
| Subscribe to the ESA/Hubble/Webb Science Newsletter | Researchers, science enthusiasts, educators who want technical updates | Science announcements for Hubble and Webb |
The distinction matters mainly in tone and content: Hubble News is the public-facing channel, while the Science Newsletter is aimed at people who want the scientific side of Hubble and Webb results.
How to subscribe
- Go to esahubble.org.
- Find the Subscribe link in the site's top navigation area (the site's menu lists "Contact" and "Subscribe to Hubble News" near the top).
- Choose your subscription:
- Subscribe to Hubble News — https://esahubble.org/subscribe/
- Subscribe to the ESA/Hubble/Webb Science Newsletter — https://esahubble.org/subscribe-science/
- Enter the email address you want updates sent to, and complete any confirmation step the form provides.
- Check your inbox (including spam/promotions folders) for a confirmation or welcome message.
Expected result: you begin receiving periodic emails with Hubble news, and — if you chose the science option — Hubble/Webb science announcements.
What you'll get and how often
ESA/Hubble publishes news continuously, organized by year from 1999 through 2026, plus recurring features such as Picture of the Week and Picture of the Month. Subscribing is the way to have that stream delivered to you rather than checking the site manually. The site also maintains a Newsletters section listing both the ESA/Hubble News and the ESA/Hubble/Webb Science Newsletter, which is a useful place to confirm which one you signed up for.
Common snags
- Two similar links. It's easy to sign up for only one when you wanted both — repeat the steps with the second link if so.
- Confirmation email missing. Check spam, promotions, or junk folders; institutional filters sometimes hold bulk mail.
- Changing your mind. If the form or emails include an unsubscribe option, use it; otherwise the site's Contact page is the route to ask about your subscription.
Related resources on the same site
If your interest is broader than email updates, ESA/Hubble also hosts image and video archives (with usage terms), educational material, the FITS Liberator image-processing tool, and anniversary/exhibition resources — all reachable from the site's main navigation.
